Around the time my son was born a year and a half ago, I started watching this new band, Biird, on social media and fell in love. They inspired me to want to get up and dance again in spite of the postpartum delirium. They made trad music look outrageously cool and also, simultaneously, welcoming and empowering as a woman.

This summer, I followed Biird to 3 cities like a groupie. Third time really was the charm and dancing with Biird in LA in front of my friends and family was one of the highlights of my 30 year dancing career. The most warm, fun, gutsy, smart, and unbelievably talented girl band in history. How lucky for us that they just so happen to be Irish. Go raibh maith agat, @biirdofficial, @lisacanny, @ci_murphyy, @oliversmith30, & all the Biirdies. I'm a groupie for life now ❤️
