WIN-dianapolis, Indiana 💙💛🌾

This week, I was beyond blessed and grateful to become the National Winner in Extemporaneous Speaking at the 98th annual National FFA Convention and Expo!!!!!

I am so thankful to my chapter, advisors, friends, family, and community that helped make this win a possibility through years of investment, support, and belief in me.

The first Extemporaneous speech I ever gave in my life was a shaky performance on stage at FFA’s camp Clement’s the summer after my freshman year. I was freaking out for hours before the contest, giving practice speeches to my chapter in the cabin, and thinking about how I could fake the stomach bug that was going around Cookeville FFA in order to get out of giving the speech. Thankfully, against my better judgement at the time, I still ended up competing in Camp Extemp, and while my speech was less than perfect, I left that stage with a new fire in my heart for speaking on the agricultural issues that are so important to our nations future.

I competed in Extemporaneous Speaking at State FFA Convention last March, where my preparation from my advisors Ms. Wick and Ms. Johnson, opportunity, and luck coincided and led me to a State win that qualified me to National Convention.

Prior to the 98th annual National FFA Convention and Expo, I was given numerous opportunities to give practice speeches, connect with agricultural leaders, and enhance my skills. This was extremely helpful, and I am so thankful that just like at state, opportunity, preparation, and luck met to lead me to the National win for Extemporaneous Speaking.

Thank you to my chapter for being there through the highs and lows. Thank you to my advisors for pouring into me through the process. Thank you to my Mom, Dad, sister, and family for believing in me along the way. Thank you to Tennessee FFA and National FFA for making this possible. Thank you to every competitor, volunteer, staff member, and prep room coordinator in this LDE for making such a great contest so special. Thank you to @anneston_savage for my Instagram caption.

I appreciate having this opportunity more than words could say. 💗

Des Moines for Des Win💗🌽

After 9 rounds of Impromptu Speaking, I am honored and shocked to be named the NSDA National Champion for 2025.

I want to start by simply acknowledging how incredibly blessed and lucky I am to have had the opportunity to be at the National Speech and Debate Tournament’s Centennial Celebration.

To Mom, Dad, and Áine, thank you for constantly supporting me in Speech and Debate despite not hearing me actually speak until that finals round. I am grateful to have a village behind me.

To my coach, Shane Cunningham, thank you for opening doors for me that are leading to indescribable opportunity. Thank you for teaching us to never count ourselves out, despite the competitive field we are in. Your impact is so felt.

To my teammates Kaylee, Daisy, and the rest of Cookeville’s Nats group in Lilly, the Wilmoths, and Ms. McBroom, thank you. This would have never happened if I hadn’t had your constant support. (If you know me, you know that I needed their help a lot throughout the week.)

To my teammates, past and present, who continually cheered me on not only at the national tournament but throughout my entire speech and debate career, I am eternally grateful for your support. Cookeville Speech and Debate has been one of the biggest blessings of my life, primarily because of the people.

To my friends, family, and teammates, thank you for believing in me even when I did not. Words cannot describe what that unwavering faith means to me.

Finally(and perhaps most importantly), to all competitors at this year’s tournament, you have shown that your voice and message transcend all challenges. Your resilience is a testament to your character and the community that makes up the NSDA.

Truly and humbly blessed beyond belief. ✝️

In the spirit of Impromptu, I leave you with a quote by the great Noah Kahan:

“Keep your time, keep your mind, keep humble.”

Thank you all 💗💗💗💗 taken in Iowa Events Center by @ciara.oldham

Throughout the week at ALAVGS, I developed connections and skills that I will value forever. From disagreeing agreeably to becoming an active participant in our democracy, I know that these lessons will carry on into my later life. Thank you to those in Burn City 🦋and the Federalist Party Delegates 💙for being the kindest smartest girls ever, you really made this week special 💗💗
