🥟🇭🇰 DIM SUM FOR HALLOWEEN?! 🥟🎃

Despite the number of people who think I’m Korean, I am, Hong Kong-born. 🇭🇰 And since dim sum runs in my veins , I figured why not dress up as my favorite cuisine for Halloween? 😂

As someone born in Hong Kong, I can confidently say that nothing quite compares to the dim sum back home. HOWEVER, for a city dominated by tech bros, overpriced coffee, and Patagonia, Seattle actually has a pretty respectable dim sum scene. 🙃

Whenever I’m missing Hong Kong or craving some good har gow, siu mai, and char siu bao, these are some of my favorite spots that never disappoint! 🥹❤️

🥟 HK Bistro
🥟 Jade Garden
🥟 Diamond Bay

Will Seattle ever dethrone Hong Kong when it comes to dim sum? That’s hard. But these spots definitely deserve their flowers and tiding me over well until December. 🇭🇰❤️

📍Mi Lay Cay, Little Saigon

You might not be able to see; the line was out the door. But nobody complained. Everyone stood patiently for Ms. Trinh’s eye as they waited to be noticed for a table or take down a to go order. We all knew we were lucky to be able to get one more taste of our favorite noodles 🍜 by @cidseattle

@cidseattle put on a fantastic night market earlier this month! It was such a fun evening to capture with the supremely diverse set of entertainers and vendors who all contributed something unique to the feeling of the event. Thanks for having me 💕 by @cidseattle

❤️‍🩹 Some goodbyes you feel in your chest. This is one of them.

My parents first brought me to Mi La Cay when I was a 9 year old kid, back when it was on the corner of Dearborn and Jackson.

More than thirty years of coming back. Different address now, same love in the food. Every bowl is a little thank-you to them for bringing me here, and to the family who kept showing up for this neighborhood.

Their last day of service is October 29 so if Mi La Cay ever meant something to you or even if you just want to experience a huge part of Seattle history, go sit down and say thank you while you still can.

From my family’s table to yours: thank you, Mi La Cay. Forever PreApproved.

@uwahimaya is celebrating 98 years. From their first store in Tacoma in 1928 to now stores in Seattle, Bellevue and Renton, Uwajimaya has been part of the Pacific Northwest community since 1928. Growing up in Seattle all my life, I have vivid memories of my family and I going every weekend to the first CID Uwajimaya location in the 80’s. This was one of my grandma’s favorite places and she always looked forward to going to Uwajimaya. It was one of the few places where she could get high quality Asian products. Several of the staff members would always come to say hi and I just remember her perusing through all the Asian vegetables and fish and meat departments picking out everything she wanted to cook for the week. It was just something I always remembered as a kid. Of course, I always loved the different candies and sweets Uwajimaya had and I still look through the snacks and candy aisle looking for new things to try today. When I walk into Uwajimaya, it’s the memories that hit me every time with my grandma and how special this place was to her and our family.

Come shop at Uwajimaya and celebrate 98 years with them. There will be events through November 3rd and enter their giveaway to win a $500 gift card to Uwajimaya.

Uwajimaya has been a staple in this community and I’m so excited for their future as new stores in Tacoma and my hometown, Issaquah, will be open in the future. In the meantime, stop in to their other locations and help them celebrate 98 years!

Mi La Cay has been serving customers in Little Saigon for 30+ years!

Swipe thru the slides to read the full letter shared to the public on behalf of the owners Ha and Trinh.

Stop by one last time at 212 12th Ave S before they close their doors on 10/29/26. We recommend trying the House Noodle Soup!
