this month marks my 20th year in austin. i moved here in 2006 to study film at UT and make movies. but over the next two decades so many other unexpected versions of me came forward: a high school english teacher. a magazine intern. a wedding florist assistant. a chocolate factory worker (no joke).

and then came photography and the creative impulse that was driving me all over this city the entire time—even when i didn’t know it.

yet, all of those past lives still live here. i drive past them all of the time. old neighborhoods, old jobs, old haunts. in fact, most of those past lives inform my work today. truly, it’s been a movie unto itself. can’t wait for part 2.

Furniture placement isn’t just a key component of interior design—it’s the backbone of how a space functions, how people interact with it and how effortlessly a room serves daily life.

Early in my career, my dear friend @coxist_studio reminded me that scale is everything in design. It’s a principle I’ve worked tirelessly to perfect, and after countless opportunities to hone the craft, getting the scale right has become second nature.

thrilled to share that two of my new orleans projects were 2026 winners of louisiana landmarks society’s excellence in historic preservation award.

first up is dryades:

“Constructed circa 1920, 4417-4419 Dryades Street is a rare early twentieth-century indoor recreational facility within the Uptown New Orleans Historic District. Known for decades as the New Orleans Skin Diving School, the building combines architectural significance with an important place in the city’s recreational and maritime history.

The rehabilitation focused on preserving its most remarkable feature: a monumental vaulted pool hall with skylight, oculus windows, and decorative detailing. Later alterations were addressed, structural and moisture-related issues were stabilized, and the dramatic interior volume was carefully conserved.

Using State and Federal Historic Tax Credits, the project preserves one of Uptown’s most unusual historic interiors for contemporary use.”
