Setting the right white balance is essential for getting skin tones right. You can use a light meter, or you can use the CineTemp app. It turns your phone into a light meter, helping you get the perfect colour balance in your footage.

Search for ‘CineTemp’ in the App Store. Also give @keatonnye a follow, he’s a cinematographer who has some great advice and built the app to help his workflow. by @cinetemp

I’m always talking about reducing friction when making content or filming. And this is literally the definition of that. Already on your phone so there’s not excuse to get that white balance right! @cinetemp

comment “WHITE BALANCE” and I’ll send over the link to the app! by @cinetemp

Today I wanted to talk about an APP I’ve been using a lot recently. @cinetemp created by @keatonnye puts a color and light meter right in your pocket. It’s been really helpful with pre production and on set!

Had a chance to use @cinetemp for the last little while and it’s proven to be a very useful app for filmmakers and photographers.
.
The app figures out the colour temperature of the scene and gives you a temperature in Kelvins so you can adjust light settings or use it to add secondary lights.
.
I tried this for my photos recently and it seems to work well too. You can hard code this white balance in your camera so it’s one less thing to worry about in post processing.
.
If that wasn’t enough, the Sun Tracker feature tracks the Sun so you know where it is at any given time of the year. What I like about this feature is it allows you to compare two dates simultaneously so you can see how the sun direction changes or where it will move relative to another point.
.
Very cool, very useful.
.
Thanks to @keatonnye for making this app and letting me try it out. Check out CineTemp if you’re in need of any of these features!
