The Toroboros Intensive is coming - sign up to get early access! 🔗

Back in 2013 I flew across the country to attend the legendary Fire Drums in the mystical redwood forests of Northern California. The entire trip felt unreal and magickal.

It was Saturday evening, the eve of my 26th birthday. I stopped by a booth to pick up my hoop that had been resized, and the original Toroflux caught my eye… so of course I grabbed one.

Soon I was wandering the festival with nothing but my hoop and the Toroflux. At some point it felt obvious to combine them into one strange little hybrid prop.

Endless possibilities opened.

For the rest of the night I experimented with it, discovering all kinds of movement patterns. I was obsessed. While everyone spun fire, I played with this thing until dawn.

The way it slinks along the hoop always reminded me of the Ouroboros. Delicate yet fierce. It bites if you move wrong, and swallows your arm whole when you let it. Like any prop, it demands you work with momentum and gravity until the movement finally looks effortless.

People reacted strongly to it. When two familiar props become one, something new is born.

After the festival I visited the developing @flowtoys workshop in San Francisco where they had just gotten their first 3D printer. They loved what I was exploring and even gifted me a few more to play with.

Over the years I would pull this hybrid out during walkabout performances and shows. Audiences were always fascinated and slightly confused in the best way.

This clip was filmed this January at @flowfestftlauderdale I picked up a hot pink version of what is now commonly known as the Mozi made by Fun in Motion Toys.

The reactions from fellow flow artists reminded me how special this combo really is. I even crossed paths with one of the founders of @funinmotiontoys and had a beautiful conversation about the evolution of the Mozi and the history of flow arts.

Full circle moments. (Pun fully intended.)

So now I feel inspired to keep exploring this style of flow and share more of it with you.

This was just a quick clip… but more experiments are coming. 🌀

One night many moons ago I spotted someone playing with this magickal trio from a distance.

She was silhouetted against the lights at Return to Roots Festival and I was drawn right in. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Three hoops, connected by magnets, creating the most mesmerizing floating illusion. I had to try.

Soon after I acquired my own set and brought them on a cross country trip from NY to California. I played and experimented with them in the redwoods and by the sea, slowly unlocking this new puzzle one movement at a time.

This prop has always been incredibly rare, which makes every opportunity to play with it feel extra special. And honestly it makes me want to bring it back to the forefront even more.

I would love to teach what I know so we can explore all of the possibilities together as a community. There is so much potential here and I feel like we have only scratched the surface.

The hoop was my first love. We met in Vermont in 2008, and shortly after I was gifted the original flow wand before it became more widely known as a Levi wand.

I remember coming across videos of Prisna from @flowtoys and @aileen.lawlor playing with this most magickal flying object and I had to try!

I kept it on a short string for only a few months, until I saw Aileen and @vivianspiral working the long string.

I lengthened mine and never looked back. The possibilities and illusion of the long string flow just captivate me completely.

Over the years I’ve been incredibly grateful to meet and skill share with some iconic wanders: Aileen, @lux_luminous , @firechill.ph and @clearhumaneyes - Each one inspiring me to keep exploring.

In 2014, on Ehrlich’s first trip to the US, we carpooled together to Kinetic Fire. I had only just begun playing with wooping concepts and we explored together in pure joy. It makes me so happy to see how much he has developed the art since then!

Spiral has also been one of my greatest flow inspirations of all time, and one of the only ones I have yet to meet in person. Recently she began performing this prop combo too, and it fills my heart. I love how things evolve and come full circle, how we inspire one another in waves across the years.

Seeing them both develop new moves with these two props together has me re-inspired to discover what else I can do with them!

Thank you to everyone who keeps pushing the art of wanding and wooping further. And to those I haven’t mentioned, those who I’m a bit less familiar with - I see you too 🙏

This clip is from @flame.festival two years ago, moments after sunset, just as we began to light up the circle that would soon hold so much fire.

I’m gearing up for Flame again in a couple of weeks and I absolutely cannot wait to be back in community, exploring and pushing the limits.

Who will I see there? 🔥🌀

The first world hoop day I celebrated was 08/08/08…I had only started hooping a few months before and I had no idea how transformative my hoop journey would become…

From age 20-39 the hoop has been by my side. Through all the seasons of my life, it holds space for me. Within the hoop I’ve found peace, joy, awe, presence, and bliss! It’s been a way to transmute my rage and frustration and sadness. To feel it and heal it. Hooping is alchemy.

If you’ve been hooping for a while, I’d love to know when you got started and what hooping has meant to you! 🤔👇

And if you’ve been curious to try, I invite you to give it chance and see what might unfold!

Not only is hooping a fun practice, but it brings you home to yourself in a way thats hard to describe, and connects you with a worldwide community of beautiful souls who just “get it”.

I’m so grateful I found the hoop when I did, and I’m so excited for you to experience it’s infinite magick ⭕️🙌⭕️

The commentary was too cute 🥹 I had to keep it! …he saw me trying to film myself on a tripod in front of the sun alter we helped create at @fahrenheitflowarts festival last weekend…and he stepped in to get even better footage. Thank you my love @im_a_fire_watch_me_burn 🥰

We had an amazing time decorating this altar and the stage at the Fahrenheit revival festival. We had such a great team! More on that later…but for now, enjoy the sweetness and my mind bending moves with the maghoops 😜🥰❤️‍🔥🔮✨🙌

The vibes in the burn circle @fahrenheitflowarts festival were immaculate last weekend! 🔥🔮🔥 it was such a joy to share the space between the mountains with so many wonderful fiery souls! I felt inspired to burn a little more often then usual at this one, and it was the perfect last days of summer festival for me! I have a lot more to say, but the words will come later - for now enjoy this high energy hoop burn! 🔥

Hooping and flow arts are really more about presence than performance…and honestly the best performances happen with the most presence.

In my experience, I’ve found that the only way to tap into flow state is to be truly and completely present in the moment, in the movement.

When I’m able to let go of judgement of myself and even awareness of others, and just allow the movement to take over and flow in the way it wants to - that’s when the magick happens.

That’s when I am able to witness the music moving me, and anyone else who takes witness can feel the bliss I feel (I hope).

When I’m able to freestyle instead of perform choreo, that’s when I can fully drop in and become completely in tune with my hoop.

What does flow state feel like to you?
Are you having trouble finding your way there?

No matter how long it’s been, we can trust that we can all come together and lend our skills to create a fun show for the families at any event!

This was a unique one where we had an epic backdrop of hot air balloons! They were blasting their flames in time with the music as we danced ❤️‍🔥

Always a blast working with Cosmic Karma Fire 🔥🙌🔮

Their wedding lost power, the band quit, and half the guests left… then we showed up with fire. 🔥

We drove through winding mountain roads last weekend, dodging rain and downed trees to get to this sweet couple’s reception. When we finally arrived, everyone was soaking wet, the power was out, their tent was destroyed, and the band had already left along with half their guests.

We came prepared with our own battery operated sound system, and we truly cheered everyone up and brought the light and joy back. It was a tropical themed wedding and they loved our fire show!! It made all the difference.

This is why we do what we do. We are joy bringers, and moments like this remind me how much it can really mean to people.

Need fire, flow, and music that doesn’t quit when the power does? Call us! ❤️‍🔥🔥🔮 taken in Peaceful Valley Campsite by @circle.of.expression

This fire show was really special ❤️‍🔥 for the first time, we all got to combine our unique skills into a full length group fire show for a fun audience at a local music festival.

Everything aligned to make it possible - and it likely never will be again. Friends are relocating and we are rarely all in the same place at the same time.

We even welcomed one of our newest students of fire to perform their first show - and she wielded a show stopping giant fire sword with so much courage!

I’m so proud and grateful 🥹 thank you all for creating this magick with me!

I started spinning poi with the intention of adding it to our choreographed shows…it wasn’t something I felt really drawn to explore, but in the past year or so I keep finding myself longing to pick them up. I even got a puppy hammer at Flame this year - because something about the string things are calling me now.

I find it fascinating how flow arts exploration can be a lifelong experience if you stay open to possibilities and allow yourself to simply play with the props that are interesting to you.

I’ve gone through many chapters of learning and developing my skills with various props over the past 18 years. Every prop requires time and attention, and patience! Sometime you just have to wait for the inspiration to take you to the next level.

I’m excited for my strings chapter now, and to reach my next level of skill.

It’s all about staying curious to what’s possible or, and knowing that everything is right on time!

What prop has been calling you more lately? 👇

I had a blast last weekend spinning in this circle sponsored by the @spinningartsfoundation at @sterlingstagekampitheater ❤️‍🔥
