Not all gigs feel poignant. Circu5's gig last Friday at The Rolly was an exception.

The crowd was amazing. Firefly, the excellent acoustic duo, opened and went down a storm. Then we did our set and loved every second of playing for such an appreciative audience.

I saw people I haven't seen since the late eighties. That almost-forty-year gap disappeared. We chatted and laughed, forgetting the world outside for a few hours.

But it all happened the night The Rolly closed. That's it. Gone.

Watching the world through screens can make you feel we're entering a dark age. You start wondering if you're alone in thinking any of this is wrong. Everyone's losing their minds, and yours will soon follow.

Nights like last Friday make you feel less alone.

There's something special about seeing live music and spending time with other human beings. Let's support our local venues while we still can.

We'll miss them when they're gone.

Had the chance Friday night to see Level 3 . It’s a sobering sight. I remember so many great nights, gigs and memories from this amazing space. To see it unused with all its amazing potential is really sad.
Makes me think, we’ve all heard people asking which person in power can make changes for the better in this country…. We need to stop looking to men in suits to do it for us… it won’t happen. It’s us that can make the changes . If you want to see changes in the community, go into the community and do something. If you want local shops - use them, if you want local pubs - buy a pint, if you want help for the vulnerable - go volunteer. If you want great gigs and venues like this could be - go to the freakin’ gigs !! Audiences AND MUSICIANS alike can’t expect great gigs unless we patronise the venues. They can’t survive without our help. It’s a symbiotic relationship… we can’t just take. I know as much as anyone how hard it can be right now, but let’s help rebuild these places and keep existing venues alive. All we have to do is show up and have fun. Who doesn’t want that !!

Sorry for the delay posting, it's been a nuts few days. Thanks everyone who came to The Vic (@thevicswindonsn1) on Friday to see Circu5 and George Wilding. You were incredible. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

I forgot to thank the amazing George Wilding (@georgewildingmusic) for his set. He went down a storm, and people have been rightly raving about him. A natural, effortless talent with world-class songs.

Further evidencing my cognitive decline, I also forgot to thank DJ Harman and Ant - the new owners of The Vic. You couldn't wish for a better team to take the reins of the venue. And Jake on sound: his golden ears did us proud - thank you. Of course, Lou Dommett Young (@loudommettyoung) went above and beyond as my "Clare in the Community". Not forgetting, my brother who did the honours on video projections.

Finally, thanks to Nigel Waller, Dan Sollis, Andy Sweeney... and David Lake (who flew from Chicago) for travelling so far to support us.

I'm sure I've forgotten to thank loads of people. Please know we're hugely grateful that you gave your time and hard-earned cash to come and support Circu5 and George.

Playing purely live is our thing - raw and real, with no AI, backing tapes, autotune, and other fakery. We loved playing for you and can't wait to see you again.
