A little bit of summer training ā˜€ļø

This summer has been my first real return to the equipment since having my littlest, who is somehow already one. My body is different. My strength is different. And coming back has been less about getting back to where I was and more about figuring out what being strong means now.

Returning to some old skills, rebuilding others, and finding new strength along the way. šŸ’Ŗ

So grateful for outdoor training days with @kaitlynbella.aerialist , and for slowly finding my way back to pole again. šŸ¤ by @circusmonsterleda

It’s our last day in Montréal, and I’m leaving with my heart full of family, my belly full of pastries, and my mind full of circus.

Between family dinners, park adventures with the kids, and soaking up as much circus as we could, I’m heading home feeling deeply inspired.

One of the best parts of this trip to Montréal has been reconnecting with the circus community that shaped me.

Tonight we went downtown hoping to catch Louis-David’s act… but two toddlers had other plans. ā¤ļø So instead, I’m borrowing this beautiful video.

Training with Louis-David in 2013 transformed me as an aerialist and athlete. The lessons he taught me continue to shape the way I move, teach, and create today.

This week has been filled with family, old memories, and a renewed love for this city and its circus community. I’m leaving feeling deeply inspired.

Merci, Louis-David. šŸ¤

Montréal has always felt like a place where different parts of my life get to meet.

This week has been filled with reconnecting with family, wandering familiar streets with new little travel companions, and spending evenings watching circus that reminds me why I fell in love with this art form in the first place.

As I continue my Fat Circus research, I’m finding that inspiration isn’t just coming from performances. It’s coming from conversations, neighbourhood cafés, old friends, unexpected moments, and the simple joy of seeing a city through my children’s eyes.

Feeling deeply grateful for the people, the artists, and this beautiful city that’s helping refill my creative cup. ā¤ļøšŸŽŖ by @circusmonsterleda

Grateful to have been part of the @albertacircusarts this year.

It was a privilege to moderate conversations on creating circus and expanding who belongs in it. I’m especially thankful to everyone who shared their stories and perspectives.

What I love most about festivals like this isn’t just the performances—it’s reconnecting with friends, meeting new collaborators, and building community through conversation.

I’m leaving Edmonton inspired and excited for what’s next.

Until next time. ā¤ļøšŸŽŖ

Today’s the day!

I’m excited to be moderating Beyond the Ideal Body: Fatness, Access, and Aesthetics in Contemporary Circus at the @albertacircusarts .

Over the past several months, I’ve been speaking with artists, researchers, coaches, and community members about fat bodies in circus. Today’s panel is a chance to bring some of those conversations into the room.

Join us as we explore representation, access, aesthetics, training, and what becomes possible when more bodies are welcomed into circus spaces.

šŸ“ Campus Saint-Jean, Edmonton
šŸ•’ 3:00 PM

I’m honoured to be joined by Amanda Bergen @attempteverything , Queen K @fierceandcurvyempire , Kristin Rodier @thinking_bodies_pod , and Heunjung Lee.

If you’re in Edmonton, come say hello!

When I started this research, I thought I was asking questions about representation in circus.

What I’ve found myself thinking about instead is belonging.

What makes someone feel like circus is for them? What messages tell people they belong—or that they don’t?

These are some of the questions that we’ll continue exploring during Beyond the Ideal Body: Fatness, Access, and Aesthetics in Circus at the Alberta Circus Arts Festival.

šŸ“… June 19
šŸ“ Campus Saint-Jean, Edmonton
šŸŽŸļø Free to attend

I’d love to see you there.

What happens when we question the idea of the "ideal circus body"?

On June 19, I'll be moderating a panel featuring artists, scholars, and advocates exploring fatness, access, aesthetics, and belonging in circus and movement spaces.

Some of the perspectives of three brilliant thinkers who will be joining me include Amanda Bergen @attempteverything , Kristin Rodier@thinking_bodies_pod , and Heunjung Lee— also not photographed Michelle Kennedy @yegqueerpsych and Queen K @fierceandcurvyempire

Join us for what I know will be a thoughtful, challenging, and inspiring conversation.
