The City of Frederick mourns the passing of Neil Fay, a dedicated community member whose commitment to public service made a lasting impact on our city.

Through his service on the City’s Ethics Commission, his work at Hood College, and his involvement with Rotary, Neil gave generously of his time and talents to strengthen the Frederick community.

His statue will be dedicated tomorrow, October 11, at 4 PM at the Carroll Creek Amphitheater. Watch the episode: frederickmd.gov/ron-young by @cityoffrederick

50 years ago, starting Friday evening, October 8, 1976 and lasting until noon Saturday, October 9, a whopping 7.27 inches of rain fell on Frederick County and Carroll Creek flooded downtown.

We were honored to have former FPD officer Donald Putman, who was on duty that day, join us on Behind the Spires. Special thanks to Donald for also showing us around the spots he remembers so we could capture them then and now.

As we mark the 50th anniversary of the Flood of 1976, listen to Donnie’s story here: frederickmd.gov/don-putman by @cityoffrederick
