Look Ma! We made the front page!!

I’m so proud of this mural, this program and this incredible group of women who make up this year’s Mural Painting 101 cohort!

It’s pretty powerful to see a vision like this come to life through community engagement, artist collaboration and the support of our city! And it’s a dream come true to do it alongside such a cool group of female artists!

Trick-or-treating in the TREES?! 🎃🌳 Tree Trekkers is putting a whole new spin on Halloween with Trek or Treat, and there are just TWO weekends left to join the fun! Climb, zip, and make your way through the treetops collecting candy along the way. Keep an eye out for Bigfoot, and don't forget your costume for a chance to win prizes!

Tickets are $67 per person and include access to all 16 trails, a Trek or Treat bag, and treats along the way. Ages 4+ can participate, with adult climbing supervision required for ages 4–7. Younger siblings can enjoy ground-level trick-or-treating with a separate treat bag purchase!

One of my favorite fall traditions 🍂🤎 The 63rd annual Catoctin Colorfest in Thurmont was another one for the books! There’s just something about the mountain views, colorful leaves, and seeing SO many people come out to enjoy everything this little town has to offer.

From unique handmade finds and local vendors to all the fall treats, there’s always something new to discover (and somehow always something cute to bring home 🤭) It’s the kind of fall weekend that reminds you why Maryland is so special this time of year! 🍎✨

🏏 Cricket is coming to Frederick County!

Last week's groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone as we welcome the @wshfreedom and a premier cricket facility to our community!

Cricket’s global following creates new opportunities to showcase Frederick County to the world, attract visitors, support local businesses, and strengthen our tourism economy. Just as importantly, this facility will create opportunities for our residents and become a place for competition, connection, and community for years to come.

Thank you to the Washington Freedom organization, its ownership, project partners, elected officials, community leaders, and everyone whose vision and persistence helped bring this project to life.

We’re proud that Washington Freedom has chosen Frederick County as home and excited for the opportunities ahead.

History was made and a new legacy has begun with @aarchsociety!

It was an honor to celebrate the historic opening of @aarchsociety’s new home in downtown Frederick - a milestone made possible by the years of vision, faith, generosity, dedication, and commitment of so many.

This achievement represents the very best of Frederick County: people coming together across communities and generations to preserve our history and build something lasting.

Our county’s story cannot be fully told without recognizing the history, leadership, resilience, and extraordinary contributions of our Black community. AARCH will help ensure these stories are preserved, shared, and passed on, not only as a record of our past, but as a foundation for a stronger future.

I am deeply grateful to every resident, community leader, historian, educator, faith community, donor, volunteer, and partner who helped bring this building to life. We opened a door to deeper understanding, lasting connection, and a legacy that will endure for generations.

May AARCH always stand as a place of learning, remembrance, pride, and possibility. Frederick County is stronger when we honor every part of our history and when we work together to shape our future.

Today is a day that will forever be part of Frederick’s history. ❤️

After years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, and countless hours of hard work, the AARCH Society African American Heritage Center officially opened its doors today!

This is more than the opening of a building. It’s a place where stories will be told, history will be preserved, voices will be heard, and generations will come together to learn about the incredible contributions of African Americans to Frederick County.

To everyone who believed in this vision, supported our mission, volunteered their time, and helped bring this dream to life, thank you.

Today we celebrate how far we’ve come, honor those who paved the way, and look forward to all that lies ahead.

Our doors are open. Our stories live on. And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned for the photos of this amazing ceremony.
