Get your shovels ready, Trees for UP is back! 🌳 Since 1982, this program has helped grow University Park’s tree canopy. In fact, we estimate that at least a quarter of the trees in UP came through the program! Ready to put down some roots? Here’s what you need to know: 🌱 Choose from seven native tree species selected by the City Arborist. 📅 Order from November 6–December 4. 🚚 Parks staff will deliver trees in late January or early February. 🏡 Plant on your parkway or private property. Either you can plant your tree, or hire a contractor. 🌳 Each 30-gallon tree costs $750, with a limit of two per household. Visit uptexas.org to explore the options and order when sales open. Remember to call 811 before planting on the parkway, and give your new trees plenty of care and water! 💧 by @cityofuptx
Happy Halloween weekend, UP! 🎃 Review these safety tips before heading out for a fun and fright-free night in University Park tomorrow! 👻Younger trick-or-treaters should be supervised by an adult. 👻Older children should trick-or-treat in large groups if they are not accompanied by an adult. 👻Only visit houses that are well-lit and that are obviously welcoming Halloween guests. 👻Trick-or-treaters should carry flashlights and use reflective tape on their costumes so that motorists can see them. 👻Trick-or-treaters should stay on sidewalks and obey pedestrian rules. 👻Parents, tell your children to not eat any trick-or-treat candy until it is inspected by an adult. 👻Remove obstacles from your front porch and yards so that visitors don’t stumble or trip. image002.pngUse artificial candles to avoid fire hazards. Have a safe and happy Halloween! And, don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday as daylight saving time ends! by @cityofuptx
