We put an awful lot of attention on kids who are good at sports at a young age then act surprised when that attention starts changing how they see themselves.

Ultimately they’re still kids. They’re still figuring out who they are.

As the adults around them, we have a responsibility to make sure our kids’ identity doesn’t get swallowed up by their athletic success.

Pay attention to how you treat your kid after their next game. Not just what you say, but your tone, your body language, and how much attention you give them.

Our kids are constantly learning what matters to us by watching how we react when things go well and when they don’t.

Our cups of gratitude are overflowing! 💖

Our first Crittenton Conversations was an amazing evening of connection, community, and meaningful dialogue.

As a proud Florence Crittenton board member and supporter for over a decade, seeing this event come to life was especially meaningful. The conversations about mental wellness, healthy relationships, and human connection gave us so much to reflect on—and sparked conversations around our own tables at home long after the evening ended. Our book club at home will definitely be an insiteful and meaningful one with the amazing books we acquired from these wonderful educated Authors to add to our collection. The nuggets are endless;)

It’s easy to get so focused on helping our kids reach their potential that we lose sight of something more important: our relationship with them.

Craig Young (@cjbyoung), dad of Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (@bryceyoung), told me there came a point when he realized he had pushed Bryce so hard that his son didn’t want to be around him anymore. That forced Craig to decide what success as a sports parent actually looked like.

He quickly realized if Bryce reached his full potential but their relationship suffered along the way, none of it would have been worth it.

The same is true for each of us:
