🌟🫶 Very excited to share this interview!

🫶🍛 ckbk spoke to chef and culinary consultant @AnjulaDevi about her cookbook 15 Minute Indian which has recently been added to @ckbk ’s shelves. Thanks to @quartobooksuk 🙏

🫶 She told @catherinekurtzart how the book ‘turns some of the rules of traditional Indian cooking on their head’ to deliver quick and easy results, with fresh flavors which make the most of the individual characteristics of traditional Indian spices.

🫶🫶 She said "If there is one thing I would love ckbk readers to take away from 15 Minute Indian, it is simply to have a go. Indian cooking does not belong only in restaurants or to people who grew up cooking it. Start with a few spices, trust your palate and enjoy yourself. That’s how my dad taught me to cook, and more than fifty years later, I’m still learning."

🥳📚 We are delighted to welcome "Egypt: Recipes and Stories From An Ancient Land" by @suzannezeidy and @rawahbadrawi to @ckbk on its publication date.

📚📚 Published by @nourishbooks
this gorgeous cookbook will take you on a unique journey to explore Egypt’s magic via its rich culinary history and the rituals that surround it. Over 140 recipes thoughtfully curated from all over the country are reimagined for a modern home cook.

🗨 ckbk user Omar Khafagy wrote in a feature: Tales of The Chopping Board: How to Be Egyptian Enough - "This felt very much like a birthday gift; a special voyage to parts of Egypt I have never visited to discover food I never knew Egyptians to eat or create.

"The authors share stories of the people they met, the places they visited, and the history they researched to provide rich context to each recipe.

"It’s another reason I love ckbk—you can search for recipes, but you can also really dig into individual cookbooks chapter-by-chapter. What emerges in Egypt is Zeidy and Badrawi's expression of the culinary identity of Egypt. "

🔗 You can read his feature on ckbk's website & also find out about Rawah's upcoming cooking demo at @divertimenti and an author event at @thekitchentabledorset on our latest newsletter coming out on Thursday

📚🥳 Newly live on ckbk on publication day we are delighted to have "Egypt: Recipes and Stories from an Ancient Land" by @rawahbadrawi
& @suzannezeidy. This gorgeously written book published by @nourishbooks is an invitation to enter into Egyptian culinary heritage and its home kitchens, explore, try, and savor dishes from one of the world’s oldest civilizations now adapted for the modern cook.

📍⏰️ October 17 is the second annual @ServeitForth online food history festival—a multicourse banquet of talks from festival curators, food historians and podcasters, @mrssbilton , @dr_neil_buttery , @dr_alessandra_pino and Thomas Ntinas.

💡💡Topics range from the Ancient World—exploring the diets of athletes and gladiators—to the Regency era—with a focus on dining and travel—and many more.

🌟🌟 As food historians, the curators of Serve It Forth spend a lot of their time looking at old cookbooks. Fortunately, ckbk (which is sponsoring this year’s event) makes their job a lot easier with stacks of historic recipes to choose from. A few of the curator’s favourite texts are in our newsletter.

⏰️⏰️ If you are in the UK and looking for more foodie events, there are a few live events coming up you might want to check out. The authors of Egypt are in conversation about their gorgeous book on September 17 at @TheKitchenTableDorset, a specialist culinary bookshop in Shaftesbury, Dorset. And on October 14 they will be at @Divertimenti cookshop in Knightsbridge.

🍫🍫 The Kitchen Table will also be hosting novelist @CatherineKurtzArt on September 23 for a chocolate tasting and talk about her novel Feast, featured on ckbk on its publication in June.

🫶🫶 In the latest feature in our ongoing Consuming Passions series, cookbook lover and @ckbk enthusiast @foodstoriesfromamanda Amanda Carroll writes about toum, a Middle Eastern lemon and garlic sauce which has always been at the heart of her family’s culinary traditions…

🗨🧄 She writes "I happened to marry another garlic lover, whose mother was a Hungarian immigrant. The first time he tried toum, his eyes lit up. We order takeout frequently from a nearby Syrian restaurant, and we never forget to order the combo that comes with toum."

🗨🧄 "Toum, which also goes by names such as tooma, toumiya, salsat toum, tumiyya, and muthawama, is a simple sauce typically made from garlic, salt, oil, and lemon juice. Closely associated with Lebanon and enjoyed throughout the Levant, toum belongs to a broad family of Mediterranean garlic sauces. Traditionally, toum was ground with a mortar and pestle, though food processors are now more common and create a creamier texture."

🔗🔗 Amanda's article features great recipes on @ckbk using toum including dishes by @abrowntable @bethanykehdy @christine_is_cooking @yvettevanboven @abraberens & more
