Another dream project! Earlier this year I got to take part in @codacurates 's official @peeweeherman show with a set of original illustrations in ink. While I was doing that, I was also secretly collaborating with the infamous outlaw illustrator, designer, and raconteur (also the artist for The Raconteurs) @animalrummy on a series of Peewee notebooks for @peeweesplayhouse.shop and @fieldnotesbrand . In a year of crazy projects, this is one of the best, a chance to work with one of my favorite artists for one of the most important icons of my childhood, and on one of the coolest brands. Rob killed it on design and art direction 🙏🏻, it was a blast illustrating these. They recently dropped at the Peewee pop up in New York, check the Peewee shop above or Field Notes to pick up a set. I can't wait to see them myself!

I don't know if I'll ever get used to how surreal life as an illustrator can be. I've been so blessed to work with many of my favorite bands and studios, but this one is something special. Is there a band with more heart, raw virtuoso, and classics than prog legends @rush ? I was introduced to Rush growing up by my uncle (more on this soon), as a teen I loved the musical complexity, as an adult I love the lyrics and soul. Seattle also holds a special place in my heart, and is home to so many of my favorite memories. To be able to honor both in a gig poster is unreal. I took a few approaches to the sketches (go @seattlekraken !) but in the end, I wanted to make something for fellow fans, merging Rush's discography with Seattle's iconic landmarks. I hope you all dig it!! Huge thank you to the awesome folks at @collectionzz for having me onboard. ♥️

I also saw that the art was turned into a shirt, I hope I can get my hands on one! I will have these in my shop soon, so if you're curious just stay tuned. And of course, let me know what you think! 🦉🎲⭐

I'm very happy to have this poster out in the wild, for @herocomplexgallery 's Shadows in the Dark 7 show celebrating all things horror. I try to take a "one for them, one for me" approach to my work; for each piece I do for work I try to do a piece for myself. Luckily Hero Complex is almost always game for my weird ideas on cult movies, in this case Dario Argento's giallo(ish) masterpiece Phenomena. I've had this idea forever, it feels great to finally put it to paper. If you haven't seen the movie, go watch it, the last act is absolutely bonkers. I hope you dig it, let me know what you think!

I was honored to do this little original for the @ampjamcon We've Been Framed show and charity auction, which opened tonight in Birmingham UK, benefiting @edwardstrust . It looks like the show was a massive success, so many of my favorite artists and good friends also did beautiful pieces for a great cause. Here is my humble contribution to Danger Room: Wolverine, an awesome gallery show opening tomorrow at @fcbrewing in Dallas, TX tomorrow, and curated by my homie in posters @artbycollin . This year has been a refreshing return to traditional media, and damn it feels great to make a mess with ink on paper, this piece in particular was done entirely with @pentelofamerica color brushes. With all the polished work I've been doing, this is one of my favorite pieces this year, rough, minimal, and direct. I also really miss doing comic themed work. Huge thanks to Collin for having me in such a great line up. If you're in Dallas tomorrow, the opening is going to be a banger. The weekend before last I had the incredible opportunity to see my sister Amy's, @amemei.art , solo art show at @pgmuseum . Having seen a lot of this work in various stages of development, I still wasn't prepared for such a moving, deeply emotional experience. If you're curious who inspires me, Amy is at the very top of that list. I'm so lucky to come from a family of artists who constantly push me, inspire me, and make me proud. Congratulations Amy! All your comments last week meant so much to me. I've resolved to use Instagram the way I used to, just posting my work for fun and posting what I want to, regardless of finish or quality. If it goes against the algorithm so be it. If it makes me look like an amateur, well, check out my website if you want the curated experience (link in bio). I hope you consider doing the same, because I not only miss posting this stuff, I miss seeing it from others. I'm going to try to post a sketch digest every week, so stay tuned for more. The legendary Machete, @officialdannytrejo himself! This is done in ink on paper, for @outpost512 's upcoming Best Little Arthouse in Texas group show, opening August 28 at their gallery in Tyler, TX. Danny Trejo and @rodriguez created one of the greatest action stars ever and, for my money, the definitive Tejano hero. by @ckoehlerart
