• Opt for a sculptural linear light fixture that draws attention to your stellar view
• Spring for a transparent television (yes, this magic exists)

AFTER VENUS

I put this stack together specifically for this year’s RNDD theme, Le Sexe. Le Drugs. Le Rock n Roll.

Four books looking at the construction of desire, femininity, sexuality and the image of women from very different directions: Wingate Paine with words by Françoise Sagan and Federico Fellini, postwar Japanese photography, Helmut Newton, and the history of courtesans and women who lived outside respectable society.

Together, the books reveal how insistently every era attempts to invent woman, and what happens when she refuses to remain one thing.

After Venus will be available through @ckscollective this Friday at Prostoria during the River North Design District Gallery Walk, along with a selection of other Studio EmmJean curated books and stacks.

We had some fun! ➡️

We’ve got something cool going on next Friday at the River North Design District Gallery walk!

I’m teaming up with 3 Chicago creatives who happen to be great friends of mine to create a vignette celebrating the decadence of the 70s & 80s. Swipe to meet them!

Christina Karvelas Stavropoulos is the founder of CKS Collective, which brings a deliberate selection of lighting, furniture, and textiles from talent all over the globe to Chicago’s design landscape. She’s also my middle school bestie 🤗

Courtney Shoudis is an insanely talented visual artist and the founder of Studio EmmJean, a Chicago-based art and design studio Specializing in art placement, library curation, tablescapes, and interior consulting.

Katherine Ratay, another gifted artist whose work explores the language of emotion and memory through abstraction. She paints with movement—each gesture a response to the last, each layer a token of time, experience, and intuition.

It’s me. Cortney Hall, Creator & Executive producer of ‘Open House Chicago’ the area’s only real estate show highlighting unique, historic & luxurious homes in and around Chicago.
