The phenomenon of having a physical response to music is called “frisson” (French for “chill/shiver/thrill”). It’s fascinating to have this sensory experience and unexpected emotional reaction to certain songs… and why it happens is equally fascinating and mysterious. Ahh… the mysteries of our genetic code and our responses to sound and vibration!

What are three songs that give YOU chills or goosebumps or that make you cry… no matter how many times you listen to them? (Positive chills, I mean… joy-inducing, ecstasy-imbuing… not those from music in a scary movie.) In the video, I name my top three for the moment. As always, they are subject to change. Music is a gift!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on a major international trip (kind of a first-world problem, I know).

To assuage my wanderlust, I’ve unearthed a few clips from my trip to Egypt in late 2019. Here I am as a fake travel host, on site of the gargantuan Unfinished Obelisk of Hatshepsut, discovered in the late 1800s AD amongst the sand-covered quarries in Aswan. Hatshepsut is famous for being Ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh. The obelisk is a 1,168-ton granite behemoth (I took it for granite, didn’t you?). That’s about 2,575,000 pounds or 1,168,000 kilograms. It’s about 138 feet long/tall (about 42 meters), slightly shorter than the Statue of Liberty. The obelisk is estimated to have been carved around 1,500 BC. It was intended to stand at Karnak, yet developed large cracks and made it impractical to try to stand it upright.

The subway car analogy I use to describe its dimensions comes directly from my dad. A keen and clever observation!

As someone who has been obsessed with Ancient Egypt for as long as I can remember (perhaps I lived there in a past life?), this was a monumental treat (pun intended) to see this and other ancient marvels in person.

As Rick Steves says, “keep on traveling!” There’s always something new to learn!

You left your physical form just over three years ago, but you’re forever in our hearts, sweet girl Derbigny (as are all of the Davis family pets over the years). 🐩 ❤️ 🙏🏻

August 28 is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

I highly recommend “Disclosure Day.” It’s a masterful slow-building of tension all the way to the final scene.

I’ve just posted my review on my YouTube channel. Find it via the link in my Instagram stories (for the first 24 hours) and on YouTube by searching “Claiborne Davis disclosure day.” 👽 🛸 🍿

I recorded this video yesterday, but didn’t get around to posting it until today.

One guess where I was here. 🧐 😆

Trivia: My tour guide told us this country has the highest rate of non-returning tourists in the world. Interesting!
