Went to see the wonderful Emily St John Mandel last night, talking about her new book Exit Party. It sounds terrific. We’re so lucky to have such a huge variety of visiting writers in Bath - thank you @toppingsbath by @clare_red_writes

Lovely sunny promenade today on Clifton Downs with this fab group of walkers, who booked a private story walk. I particularly liked meeting Blue, the valiant three legged whippet. Get in touch if you’d like one for your friends/family/colleagues, for a celebration or just of a Sunday afternoon! by @clare_red_writes

Such a treat to visit my lovely Bath Spa mate @allykennenwrites who has opened the best bookshop ever @chocolatebookshop in Wiveliscombe, Somerset. Dancing in the Shallows is in the window AND on the front table, rubbing shoulders with Olivia Laing, Muraksmi and Ian McEwan no less!! The bookshop is just fab, with hand carved section signs, a children’s books nook, a curved handmade staircase, cookery books in the old fireplace where the range would have been, cosy armchairs to curl up in, selections of fiction, fact, hardbacks, booker shortlisters, everything you might want to read including romantasy- it’s completely gorgeous. I came away with a bulging bagful. Did I take photos? No. Too busy gassing and admiring and cooking up plans for visiting events. Thanks for the cuppa Ally, lovely to see you and hope to be back soon!!
Ooo and Wiveliscombe has a crocheted pillar box. As you do.

GLORIOUS evening last night for Stories on the Farm! The barn looked fabulous thanks to @dawnlippiatt and it was packed with friends, fans and picnickers who were enthralled by a wild variety of stories from @unfurlingnet Pauline Masurel, David Mathews, @stephanie__weston Steph Weston, newcomer Eugene Thomas, @dawnlippiatt herself, @elainem2912 Elaine Miles, Christine Roberts, Mark Rutterford @mark_rutterford and me, Clare Reddaway. We were on the high seas, deep in a South African mine, inside Canterbury Cathedral, protesting at a threatened urban market. We planted hazel saplings, played with what three words and wondered at the audacity of a gansta owl. We visited many worlds and had a fine old time!
Many many thanks to all, especially Dawn and Ed whose farm we so enjoyed. See you again soon!!
(Thanks for the tunes Dolly!)

Back from Edinburgh where I saw loads of wonderful shows (and not so wonderful of course - wild woman who had fallen in love with a broken chair was particularly choice - but the weird is part of the joy). I recommend all of these ones with a particular gold star to Li Jin Hao, an utterly charming whimsical and hilarious comedian. We’ll be seeing more of him, catch him if you have the chance. by @clare_red_writes
