We have come to the end of Bath Fringe 2026! 💜🪩

This year’s festival took place over 21 days with more than 1000 people attending our 150+ events hosted at 33 different venues across the city of Bath.

We had some brilliant events as part of Fair Endeavours as well as the Studios Presents Series and a large number of our events hosted by @roundhillbarn, Bath Library, @jesterscomedyclub, @thegrapesbath and @thebellinnbath.

Thank you to all of our organisers, speakers, guests, to everyone who attended one of this year’s events and of course a big thank you to all of our venues!:

A story walk through disreputable Bath with @words_bath 🛁

On Sunday morning I went along to this fantastic walking tour which explored the city of Bath in a fantastic new way. With a mix of facts and fictional tales, Clare led us around uncovering a slightly darker, more sinister side to the city that shocked even long-term locals. 📖

No matter how well you may think you know the city of Bath, think again. This may have been the last tour of our Festival, but keep an eye out for any of Clare’s future events. 🗓️

We are delighted to welcome author @clare_red_writes to Axe Vale Arts to talk about her new book, Mouthy, a collection of stories about women.

Mouthy tells stories of power and resistance, of love, loss, and persistence — of finding a way to live. These stories have been honed over years of short story writing and performances across the South West.

The book was long-listed for the Cinnamon Press New Voices Award 2024 and is published by @axeriverbooks a new south-west indie publisher based in Axbridge.

Clare lives in Bath and writes plays, short stories, and articles. She also recently published her debut novel, Dancing in the Shallows (2024).

📅 Thursday 12th February
⏰ 7pm

Brain first aid. Soul resuscitation. Stories that breathe life.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Mouthy: Stories About Women

Mouthy is a sharp, emotionally resonant collection of short stories by award-winning writer Clare Reddaway. Exploring themes of voice, resistance, and self-definition, the stories span tones from wry and political to lyrical and intimate. At its heart, Mouthy is about speaking up — and the consequences of doing so.

The title story features a female MP dealing with online abuse. Other stories explore domestic pressure, power imbalances, quiet rebellion, and unexpected tenderness.

This is literary fiction with bite: rooted in the female point of view, grounded, often funny, and always precise.

Clare's short fiction has won multiple national short story prizes. Her work has been performed at festivals across Bath and Bristol, and she is also known for her popular story walks through the region.
