There’s something about Ringo that I’ve always loved. While the world was busy obsessing over John, Paul, and George, Ringo was out here being effortlessly Ringo. The humour, the expressions, the unmistakable charm. You really couldn’t make this man up.

And honestly, The Beatles wouldn’t have been quite the same without him. The world’s greatest drummer, professional apple enthusiast, and one of greatest rock legend, Ringo Starr 🍎🥁

Nowhere Man - The Beatles
Rubber Soul, 1965

With the newly released Rubber Soul Special Edition giving us another reason to revisit this 1965 masterpiece, I found myself listening to the album from start to finish. And somewhere between Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, and In My Life, I was reminded of just how special this record really is.

For me, Rubber Soul captures The Beatles at a fascinating turning point. You can hear them moving beyond their early pop sound, experimenting with new textures, writing more introspective lyrics, and shaping the kind of music that would influence generations to come.

And yet, what I love most about this album isn't its place in music history. It's how effortlessly it still feels alive. Every listen brings back something familiar while making you appreciate something you might have missed before.

Maybe that's the beauty of The Beatles. You can listen to them for years and still find yourself falling in love with their music all over again.

What's your favourite song from Rubber Soul? 🎶

Michael Jackson didn't just chase perfection. He made the rest of the world chase him. 👑

That's one of the amazing things I like about Michael. The man could spend hours perfecting a few seconds of a music video. Every move, every pause, every little detail had to be just right.

And you can see that obsession with perfection everywhere. Thriller wasn't just an album. Its music video turned a song into a 14-minute short film. The moonwalk wasn't just a dance move anymore. It became part of pop culture. And his performances? Even today, you can watch that Motown 25 performance of Billie Jean and understand why people lost their minds.

What gets me is that Michael didn't just want to be the best performer in the room. He wanted to create something people had never seen before.

Decades later, we're still watching, still listening, still trying to recreate those moves.

That's the thing about the King of Pop. He didn't just leave behind songs. He changed what the world expected from a superstar. 👑

The Story Behind “American Pie”: The Song Nobody Has Ever Fully Cracked

Few songs can get an entire room singing along while nobody agrees on what half the lyrics actually mean.

American Pie is one of them.

On February 3, 1959, 13-year-old Don McLean was delivering newspapers in New Rochelle, New York, when he learned that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson had been killed in a plane crash in Iowa.

McLean was a huge Buddy Holly fan. He later described Holly as “my guy” and remembered being shocked that the newspaper barely seemed to treat the deaths as the enormous loss they felt like to him.

Twelve years later, that memory became the opening of American Pie.

But the plane crash was only the beginning.

McLean wrote the first part of the song, from “A long, long time ago” to “the day the music died,” while living in a small gatehouse in Cold Spring, New York. The chorus came about a month later, and he finished the rest at his first wife's parents' home in Pennsylvania.

And what he created wasn't simply a tribute to Buddy Holly.

American Pie became a strange, sprawling journey through American music and culture, moving from the optimism of the 1950s into the turbulence of the 1960s. Buddy Holly, Elvis, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the social upheaval of the era all seem to inhabit its eight-and-a-half-minute world. The Library of Congress describes it as partly autobiographical and partly a story of America changing around McLean.

Then there are the characters that have kept people arguing for decades:

The king.
The jester.
The queen.
The marching band.
The devil on stage.

Who are they??? Rest story in Comments!!

57 years ago, The Beatles released Abbey Road.

There’s something about this album that never really feels like history to me. I can put it on today and still get that same feeling I had the first time I really sat down and listened to it. Maybe that’s the strange thing about The Beatles. Somehow, music recorded decades before we were born can still feel personal.

And the story behind that famous cover is almost hilariously simple.

On August 8, 1969, photographer Iain Macmillan had roughly 10 minutes to photograph The Beatles crossing Abbey Road. John, Paul, George and Ringo walked back and forth across the zebra crossing while traffic was stopped around them. Six photographs later, one of those frames became one of the most recognizable album covers ever made.

Paul being barefoot in the photograph later helped fuel the famous “Paul is dead” conspiracy, because apparently four men crossing a London street was not mysterious enough without turning it into a murder investigation.

But for me, the best part is still the album itself. “Come Together,” “Something,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and that incredible closing medley. It sounds like four musicians who knew exactly what they were capable of, even as everything around them was changing.

The Beatles walked across that road once.

Fans have been walking back to Abbey Road ever since.

Happy anniversary to one of those albums that never really gets old. 🤍

Happy Birthday, Linda McCartney. ❤️

Before she became Paul McCartney’s wife, a member of Wings, a musician, a photographer and an advocate for animals, Linda was simply someone Paul fell completely in love with.

They met in London in 1968. Paul was already one of the most famous musicians in the world, while Linda had made a name for herself as a photographer, shooting some of the biggest names in rock. But one of my favourite stories from the beginning of their relationship is wonderfully ordinary.

Paul once mentioned to Linda that he liked Wensleydale cheese.

Linda took that information very seriously.

For the next TWO YEARS, she kept serving him Wensleydale.

Eventually, Paul had to clarify that he liked Wensleydale, but perhaps not quite enough to eat it for the rest of his natural life. 😂

It’s such a small story, but I love it because there’s something very human about it. Linda wasn’t trying to impress one of the most famous men on the planet. She had simply remembered something he liked and kept making sure he had it.

They married in 1969, and Linda eventually joined Paul musically too, becoming a member of Wings. Their life together went far beyond the music, though. They built a family, shared a deep love for animals, and remained together until Linda’s death in 1998.

Paul has spoken many times about how much Linda changed his life.

And somewhere in that story, there was apparently a woman who heard “I like Wensleydale” and thought, “Right. Noted.” ❤️

Happy Birthday, Linda.

Jim Croce at Highspire Corner, Lyndell, Pennsylvania, 1972.

Before You Don’t Mess Around with Jim made him a household name, Croce was living in this 1700s farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, writing some of the songs that would become his legacy.

This photograph, taken by Paul Wilson, captures Croce looking out from an unusual eight-person circular stone outhouse in the backyard. The same property became closely associated with the imagery surrounding his breakthrough 1972 album.

It was here that Croce wrote songs like “Time in a Bottle” and “Operator”. There’s something fitting about seeing him in this quiet, almost hidden corner of the place, looking away from the camera, while carrying a head full of stories that would soon belong to millions of people.

Led Zeppelin performing “Dazed and Confused” for Supershow, filmed in Staines, England, March 1969.

Just a few months after forming, Zeppelin were already turning “Dazed and Confused” into something much bigger than the version on their debut album. Live, the song became one of Jimmy Page’s main playgrounds, with the violin bow, extended improvisation and the band stretching the arrangement in completely unpredictable directions.

Supershow was filmed at the Staines Lino Factory and brought together some remarkable musicians from the blues, jazz and rock world. Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jack Bruce, Buddy Miles, Stephen Stills and others were part of the same project. Zeppelin, still very much the new band on the block, showed up and delivered this.

One of the great things about this footage is seeing how raw they still were. Robert Plant barely looks like the superstar he would become, Page is completely lost in the performance, and Bonham and Jones are already providing that massive foundation underneath everything.

There was actually enough time for Zeppelin to play another song, and Page suggested “Communication Breakdown”. The director turned it down.

Probably one of the more painful missed opportunities in rock history.

This Supershow performance was later released on the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD, preserving a glimpse of Zeppelin right at the beginning of their rise.

The Beatles Biopics filmed a recreation of the opening scene of A Hard Day’s Night at Marylebone Station in London.

The new recreation is pictured alongside the original Beatles scene from 1964, showing just how closely the production aims to recreate the iconic moment.

The original opening of A Hard Day’s Night is one of the most instantly recognisable moments in Beatles cinema. As “A Hard Day’s Night” kicks in, John, George and Ringo race through the streets outside Marylebone Station, desperately trying to escape a mob of screaming fans before making it onto the train.

The original sequence was filmed at Marylebone in April 1964, when the station was closed to the public. George Harrison famously took an accidental tumble during the chase, and director Richard Lester kept the moment in the final film.
