I highly recommend adding The Revelation of Dionne Daphne by Mara Brock Akil to your 2026 reading list! The Revelation of Dionne Daphne is an emotionally enthralling story of enduring love, world-shattering secrets, and self-awakening. From the outside, Dionne Daphne seems to have it all— beauty editor at a prestigious New York magazine, a picture-perfect life steeped in debutante glamour. But when her ex shows up at her Brooklyn doorstep with life-threatening news, the cracks in that perfect world send her running into her past and a secret she’s hidden since childhood. What follows is a spur-of-the-moment road trip with an unlikely stranger, a final reckoning with a fractured family, and the slow, luminous discovery that when you dig deep enough into the shadows, light can be revealed. #TheRevelationOfDionneDaphne #StorehouseVoices #blackauthors #bookreview #bookstagram by @classnsasskay

As Founder of First and Franklin Partners, I participated in the @d.w.perkins_bar September members panel to discuss the Florida Supreme Court's decision to amend its rules to eliminate the American Bar Association (ABA) as the sole law school accreditor required for state bar eligibility. It was great seeing my legal eagle friends, community leaders, and my Leadership Jacksonville Cohort Sister! Thank you @d.w.perkins_bar for inviting me to share my viewpoint with your members. by @classnsasskay

Earlier this year, I stood before lawmakers to advocate for legislation to compensate the families of the Groveland Four for one of the darkest chapters in Florida’s history. For historical context, the Groveland Four was a group of young men who were falsely accused of rape in Lake County in 1949. Afterward, a #FlaPol news article asked, ” Will the families of the Groveland Four ever be compensated?” As of July 1st, that answer is YES!!! The legislature added a $4 Million appropriation in the 2026-2027 state budget and with Governor Ron DeSantis’s approval of the final budget the families will finally receive long-overdue compensation. I’m especially grateful for the leadership of the late Senator Geraldine Thompson, who dedicated years to this cause, and Senator LaVon Bracy Davis who continued the fight to the finish. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to use my voice in support of this legislation. Justice delayed should never mean justice denied!!! #GrovelandFour #Lobbyist #Politics #Policy by @classnsasskay
