I’ve had two full bathrooms to renovate in this house, and for me the trick was getting the mix of colour, texture, pattern and scale just right. Once those four things are working together, everything else seems to fall into place.

I knew I wanted both rooms to have personality, without feeling overly “done” - more than anything in my interiors I’ve wanted to pare back and keep things simple - so I’ve mixed softer, chalkier tones with these gorgeous artisan tiles from @claybrookstudio — green in one bathroom, dusky pink in the other, and kept plenty of natural texture running through both.

The tiles are all from @claybrookstudio (HO in Banbury, Oxfordshire, also in London’s King’s Road, Harrogate and online) and, frankly, choosing between the two is proving difficult. I ran a polll on my IG a few months ago on which bathroom looked best, and back then the result was literally 50/50. Well, no-one likes a draw - we must have a winner! What do you think now - green or pink? 👇

This lovely terracotta-like tile is from the Shenstone Yard Collection, a series inspired by the courtyard of a Staffordshire coaching inn. The four distinct shades, each named after old local villages, offers a reclaimed look with the practicality of porcelain for wall or floor. Pictured is the Little Hay colourway, a blend of warm clay and soft honey tones. The wall is Isabel’s Bloom, a fabulous soft pink from the 100-strong Claybrook Colour palette of vegan-friendly paint shades. Free samples of the tiles and paint are available from our website to help you choose a favourite.

NEW IN - Biblioteca

Our exclusive new Biblioteca range has 12 stunning shades including the Olive pictured here in the Speckled option on the walls, and Cream with Olive in a checkerboard style on the floor in the Plain. We’ve designed 12 colourways in total with each having the two choices; with the Plain for wall or floor, and the slightly textural Speckled for wall only. Free samples of each can be ordered from our website to help choose a favourite. Panelling in this pantry was painted in Baby Olive, and the shelves in Tuscan Trip; both shades from the 100-strong palette of the vegan-friendly Claybrook Colour paint collection. Samples of the paints are also free to order online.

A sneak peek at the new bathroom in one of our recent projects in East London, the Wolery.
We love everything, specially the bald choice of colours and the arch enclosing the bath.

Wonderful work as usual from @bekoandbrotherltd

The finishing touches are starting to come together, and it’s so nice to see everything taking shape.

For the counter, we went with “Fellini Caramello Gloss” tiles from @claybrookstudio , paired with a walnut wood countertop topped with marble. The idea is to create a table-like space that welcomes everyone as they walk into the restaurant — a little detail that felt really important in reflecting the warmth and hospitality of modern Persian cuisine.

For the walls, we’re using “Templeton Pink” and “Slipper Satin,” with walnut trim bringing the two colours together and adding a bit of contrast.

It’s all coming to life 🤎

Turns out the trick was the layout 🪄✨

We waved goodbye to the bath, brought in a walk-in shower and gave this little bathroom a LOT more personality.

Small footprint. Bold green tiles. Warm timber. Brass details. Not a boring bathroom in sight.

Who wants us to work our magic on theirs next? 👀

New on the Journal🌟: Our favourite Italian designs for a classic yet modern tile

There is an unmistakable romance to Italian interiors, where even the most practical surfaces are treated as an opportunity for beauty. That spirit feels wonderfully relevant with our latest ranges: the irregularity of real handmade tiles in porcelain that captures the movement of marble or the distinctive fragments of terrazzo. Check out our new journal online.

Terracotta tiles need not be utilised for traditional or classic interiors alone. For creating looks for floors or walls with functionality but also a distinctively handmade appearance, the warmth and tactile nature of the clay tiles are ideal in more modern schemes too. Tiles can be laid vertically in linear rows, or in offset and brick bond styles or even herringbone. Mosaics are also an effective way to add visual interest for bathrooms, kitchen splashbacks or in commercial settings like bars, restaurants or hotels. Free samples of a number of hand-crafted and reclaimed terracotta ranges are available from our website.

Client Focus: @jessicaknightdesign knightdesign

This gorgeous Victorian renovation was undertaken by @jessicaknightdesign with the kitchen utilising our beautiful Bungalow 22 tiles. The laying in the diamond, or Harlequin pattern, is a particularly striking feature of this space which blends warm tones in the furniture with painted panelled cabinetry. Practical as well as pretty, the wall tiles come in a series of shades and shapes with free samples available from our website to help you choose your favourite. The house is even a finalist in the SBID international design awards 2026, a testament to the work that has gone into the designs.

Client Focus: @kittiwake.home

@kittiwake.home is a pastel perfection with pops of stronger tones throughout, thanks to owner Rach and her carefully curated approach to layering colour and materials from wallpaper and paints, to panelling and upholstery. This bathroom was clad in our Discotheque tiles in the Fizz colourway, creating the effect of wallpaper in a dynamic and durable choice. Up to four free samples of this and other decorative tiles are available from our website to help you narrow down the best for your refurbishment.
