The Magic of the Lost trilogy is complete!

Touraine is a conscripted soldier, born in the colony of Qazal and raised in the heartland of the Balladairan Empire. She was a child when she went to war for the first time, and her only goal for the future is to rise in the ranks of the Colonial Brigade. That all changes when she and the other conscripts return to the colonies to crush a rebellion, and the ties of blood and magic prove stronger than she thought.

Luca is a princess and her uncle is a usurper. If she wants to claim her throne without civil war, she needs to earn it—and she’ll start by quelling the rebellion in the south. Then, she’ll move to problems closer to home. All she needs is help from a soldier with flexible loyalties.

Through assassinations and massacres, in bedrooms and on battlefields, Touraine and Luca haggle over the fates of nations. But some things aren’t for sale.

Lucky for you, these books are. You can get all three books of the Magic of the Lost trilogy, anywhere fine books are sold.

A Wolf Has No Mercy.

I had the great honor of bringing the coolest character from @arcaneshow and @riotgames to life in Ambessa: Chosen of the Wolf, a novel out in February 2025 @orbitbooks_us @orbitbooks_uk

You’ve already seen her in action in Season 2 Act 1…this book will show you where that ruthlessness began. 😈

Pre-orders open now!

Oo, big topic wading into some silly mess! But mostly I wanted to share my thoughts for those of us who write public facing work in particular, whether you do it for pay or for fun, eg fan fiction. The gauntlet of dealing with your own feelings meeting an audience—or, the worst fear, no audience at all—and how I deal with it.

One answer, not pictured: swing a sword at it.

I’m taking a leaf out of my dear friend @christopherruz.author ’s book as he recently polled the class about his new author photos. While I did not get a Jurassic Park photo (an oversight on my part, forgive me), the photographer @cuvols managed to make me look hot and clever and cool as we explored this city we both love. It means a lot to have London in my author photos, and to have them taken by a friend who sees me.

But now I need your help. Which of these photos says “Warmongers”? Which says “please please come to this event”? Which says “my milkshake brings all the girls to the yard”? etc etc etc. by @clclarkwrites

Have I mentioned this? I’m not sure but—really excited and grateful that this novella and its sad star-crossed swamp lesbians connected with its readers and I hope the jurors enjoy it as well. I’m in good company!

It’s a quieter book and features some ahem exciting structural choices, so I was never sure how it was going to go, but thanks to everyone who has read it and shared it and keeps these lovers living.

The second #artistXauthor interview is live! With this new project, I feature one of my (and soon to be YOUR) favorite artists every month and ask them ten questions about their process, their path, and queer art.

This month, we’re featuring the rad dice makers @soulforge.dice! It’s their fault my modest collection has become a hoard, and I love the way the dice are themed to fit characters. It inspires the stories I tell at the table and in my pages.

Check out the interview at the 🔗 in my bio, and then check out their dice in stock—they’re having a new drop soon. Then share this with someone who “doesn’t need anymore dice.” 😇 by @clclarkwrites
