Very emotional, definitely means more to me than the MBE I received. Community is everything, but our children are the future.

When I came to this country from Nigeria, my first proper school was @turnhamacademyprimary. A school that made me feel at home. A school that inspired me and gave me friends that are still in my life till today.

I received a call a few weeks back, informing me that they have named a Year 6 form class after me. ‘Clement Class’.

I invited the class to come to the pub and enjoy some @whitemencantjerk and a time was had!!! by @clemface

Got invited to the Arsenal for the launch of the new @adidas x SPZL collaboration. There’s not many things that can make me cross the river, but Arsenal is an exception.

As a football club, they are steeped in community, steeped in nurturing, and steeped in fairness. Values that we hold very highly at Prince of Peckham - South London’s Official Arsenal pub. There so much to love, learn and enjoy ❤️

There’s a version of “championing the community” that’s mostly just marketing, and I think people can tell the difference whether they say it out loud or not. What actually worries me isn’t competition for Prince of Peckham, it’s what happens to a message if the people carrying it stop being around to carry it. by @clemface

Loneliness has a cost. We just decided it shouldn’t be the person feeling it who pays it.

Every week Chatty Patty covers the cost of that breakfast ourselves, food, drink, all of it, with nothing to sell and no upsell hiding behind it. The only thing on offer is a space where somebody doesn’t have to justify being there.

This was never a business decision. It was always a values one.

Wherever I’ve opened a space since, that same principle has had to hold, whatever the name on the door.

There should be no price on not being lonely. by @clemface

Someone questioned how connected I actually am to Peckham , and it reminded me exactly why I do any of this in the first place. I’m not claiming to be the right person to lead these conversations, I just refuse to sit back and let nobody have them at all. by @clemface

Today we got THE MasterChef UK champion, @jhane_gibson , to admit she’d cross the river for Prince of Peckham, which if you know how serious the north versus south London divide is, is almost unheard of.

Turns out good food and good company genuinely don’t care which side of London you’re from. by @clemface

I didn’t open @princeofpeckham to build a community, I actually found that out by accident on the very first day, and it changed how I’ve run this business ever since.

Sat down with @timcampbell_mbe and got onto one of the topics that frustrates me most about this industry. Nobody in government seems to understand what hospitality actually gives people beyond a paycheque, and it’s costing the whole industry. The maddest part is that the better you make your business, the more you get penalised for it. That’s not how any other industry works. by @clemface

If you want opportunities to find you, you have to put yourself where they can. Waiting to be picked is a mindset - and it’s one you have to break.
