An animal lover from Cleveland, Sofia found her calling — large animals — in a Clemson research lab. Her work on pregnant mares earned 2nd place at the Clemson Research Forum. 🏆

10 days. 15 students. One unforgettable classroom in the wild. 🐘🌍

What happens when learning moves beyond the classroom and into the heart of South Africa? For @clemson.animals students, it meant early mornings tracking animals through the bush, afternoons collecting data and evenings reflecting under some of the clearest night skies in the world.

Each day students tracked and identified wildlife, explored anti-poaching strategies, gained insight from veterinary professionals and examined the balance between protecting wildlife and sustaining ecosystems. The culmination of the trip was a live rhino translocation, an unforgettable experience that brought conservation efforts to life.

A special thank you to Jim Strickland and Gustavo Lascano for their leadership and dedication to creating an experience that challenged, inspired and transformed our students.
