Got the new Totalitar yesterday. Tacked a few extra Japanese goodies on the order for good measure. Gonna be a good week!

Had a great night at Ottobar with the kid tonight. It was their first metal show, and it was a doozy! Born of Plauges, Catharsis and Panopticon. Perfect line-up and all the bands delivered tonight.

I'm very excited to see Panopticon again on Sunday night. I got this last time I saw them at Shadow Woods Fest, which was held at a summer camp my kid attended a few years later. The early work was definitely more rough around the edges and brutal but you can still hear the more melancholy aspects coming out even this early on. A more brutal and creepy and just angry atmosphere on this then the later records and definitely doesn't feel triumphant like it will become later but that's the character of these early ones. I love following this bands progression.

More heavy 70s stuff. Great one and done power trio from Texas. This has some great guitar work and is a great example of a heavy psych scorcher.

Great under the radar 70s rock. BullAngus only released 2 albums, and a single and most of the band never went on to do much else. It's hard rocking with nice grooves and dabbles in some light proggy jams. Don't expect a straight hard rocker or anything but a solid fun 70s party rocker with good heavy blues riffs. It's definitely a good Monday night jam.

Another triumph by quite possibly my favorite current black metal project. Also his least black metal release I've heard by him, but it's just as engaging. Love this weirder psychedelic jazz folk output here just as much as any of the other stuff I've heard. Can't wait to get my mitts on the newest one.
