⚡️ We attended “Lima con Energía”, which took place in Lima, Peru.

In mid-September, at the Ministry of Culture, there was a discussion about the importance of the energy transition, but it left us with such a big questions, like: Who benefits from it? Who is developing it? How is it being carried out? Is there such a thing as a real ‘just’ transition? and much more.

All of this takes place within the complex Peruvian context, where access to energy should be a right for everyone.

👏🏼 We’re beyond grateful to the people who extended this invitation to us and also congratulate the organizers for a day full of great food, amazing projects and takeaways. by @climaresilient

⚠️ It’s not easy to tell the story of illegal gold mining in South America.

Over the past decade, the defense of territories, the visibility of Indigenous leaders and media coverage of this issue have grown so much.

🚨 Yet, there is a great part of the story we are forgetting to tell: Illegal gold mining wouldn’t exist without foreign markets willing to pay for that gold.

In that line, this is not just a story about defending territories and protecting the places we love; It’s also about the crimes that this illegal practice unleashes : Human trafficking, contract killings, extortion and many others.

And, of course, this is even more concerning when these crimes spread to cities and literally take over entire countries.

So yeah, this is about much more than just nature and biodiversity - right now South America is suffering while the countries that are part of this “value chain” continue to perpetuate that suffering.

🎬 Inviting you all to watch the full film now available on YouTube!

Share it as widely as possible. Talk about it. And most importantly, keep the conversation going!

⚖️🌱 A few weeks ago, Peru’s Constitutional Court decided to ban the sale of pesticides like glyphosate, for both agricultural and domestic use, after proving their harmfulness.

This climate victory was achieved after several years in which the farming and consumer community of Apurímac filed a lawsuit against the government.

The government listened and addressed the urgent need to take responsibility for this and other types of chemicals that affect not only the planet but also our health.

🇺🇸 However, in the United States, Donald Trump recently nominated Heidi Overton to lead the FDA.

She is known for her policy advocacy on the use of pesticides, and especially on glyphosate, the main component in RoundUp, a Bayer Corp. product.

This is not only raising suspicion among the people who voted for Trump in 2024, but also within his own base known as MAHA (Make America Healthy Again), led by RFK Jr.

Now the decision falls to the Senate and some politicians who have many questions on the table.

🤔 So what do you think?

Should the U.S. be consistent in its decision for health and follow Peru’s example, or keep ignoring the warnings of science?

In 2021, Sir David Attenborough (Naturalist and Broadcaster) told the G7 forum that “Tackling climate change is now as much a political and communications challenge.”

Two years later, in 2023, sustainability journalist Jacqui Merrington quoted him in the newsletter The Happy Journalist, popularizing the paraphrased idea.

Today, three years later, the issue feels more relevant than ever. Especially in the context of cities!

👀 Yes, you read that right.

🔬 Scientists confirm this by recreating the atmospheric conditions of the 1976 UK heatwave under today’s climate conditions.

🔎 The weather pattern was the same; what changed was the climate in which it occurred.

That’s how they found out that the real reason for the rising temperatures was due to CO2 emissions from the fossil fuel industry.

👉🏼 Swipe to learn more.

🗣️The public debate needs to catch up with the narrative, as well as make infrastructure, and communities more resilient to the fossil-fueled climate change.

📍What happens here impacts there, and what happens there impacts here.

💭 It doesn’t help at all to view these as separate issues - we must to see it as what it is: a single ecosystem on the same planet.

Earth day is not just a celebration of what we love most – it’s an opportunity to consider how we should reshape our relationship with nature. These planetary boundaries are an alarm bell for what’s at stake, and what’s already been lost.

An urgent shift away from fossil fuels is crucial to the future of planet ocean.

🏗️ Affordable, low-carbon housing in Catalonia? Let’s talk about it!

🇪🇺 Across Europe, the housing sector is in crisis: less than 3% of housing is social housing, and short-term rents have risen by 93% while wages have stagnated.

However, a new housing system, that addresses inequality and climate change, is shaping Catalonia.

They are successfully decarbonizing the urban environment and strengthening communities rather than displacing them.

✍🏼 But how did they do it—and what’s holding them back?

Swipe to learn more.
