Hello everyone! 🖤

I’m Natasha, a fellow book lover who reads a bit of everything… but dark romance definitely has my heart.

I’ve had a BookTok for a while now, but after seeing how incredible the Bookstagram community is, it felt long overdue to finally start this account.

I may have a shit load of posts over on BookTok (which I’ll slowly be sharing here 👀), but this also feels like a fresh start — new space, new bookish chaos.

I’m also an indie author over at @author.natashawingfield ✍🏼

I can’t wait to make more bookish friends, share my reviews, and scream about fictional characters with you all.

Tell me your favourite genres or books
so I can come stalk your page 🖤📚

Here are a few monster and beastly romance recommendations for you to check out if you haven’t read them already! And the best part? They’re all relatively quick reads, so perfect if you’re looking for something to sink your teeth into without committing to a chunky book! 🤭

Have you read any of these? 👀📚

🖤🔥 HEART OF WRATH by @effiecampbellauthor 🔥🖤

Sometimes you just need a short, dark, smutty little read to get stuck into, and Heart of Wrath definitely delivered! 👀

Emily has spent her life being labelled delusional after claiming a black-eyed demon murdered her father. But five years later, that same demon returns, pins her against a wall and steals a kiss… sending her spiralling down a rather dark rabbit hole. Now she’s taking revenge on the people who hurt her, all in the hope of seeing her demonic paramour again. And let’s just say, things get bloody interesting! 🩸

This was such a quick, easy and fun read! It’s fast-paced, a little dark, and definitely doesn’t hold back on the smut. There’s shadow play and double peen too… so you know what kind of party we’re having 🥵

If you’re after a short, blood-soaked paranormal novella with demons, revenge and plenty of spice, this one is worth picking up!

✨ Paranormal romance
✨ Demonic MMC
✨ Revenge and retribution
✨ Dark and bloody themes
✨ Fast-paced novella
✨ Shadow play
✨ Double peen
✨ Smutty goodness

Any fast paced novellas you’d recommend? 👀📚

📦🖤 BOOKMAIL! 🖤📦

Astarion by @redwombatstudio has finally arrived! 😍

I must admit, I was low-key expecting a regular-sized hardcover, especially considering it’s a Waterstones exclusive, but nevertheless, I still absolutely love it!

I’m also going to listen to the audiobook because it’s narrated by none other than @neilnewbon himself! I mean, how could I not?! 🤭

I’m such a huge Baldur’s Gate 3 fan. I will ALWAYS end up romancing Astarion🤣😅 I have about eight playthroughs under my belt, so clearly I have a problem… or perhaps just excellent taste 👀

I’m really looking forward to experiencing Astarion’s story and getting to know him before everything that happens in the game! 🖤

Are there any other BG3 fans here? And who did you romance? 👀📚

✨📚 OCTOBER READING WRAP UP! 📚✨

18 books read in October! I think I did pretty bloody well, if I do say so myself! 😅 Obviously, these are a mixture of full-length novels, audiobooks and novellas, but all in all, I’d say I’ve had a pretty good reading month with some seriously enjoyable reads! 🖤

My favourites have to be Morning Star by @piercebrownofficial and Call of the Fathoms by @emmahammauthor. Both were absolutely bloody phenomenal, albeit for completely different reasons! 😍

You know what, though? I bloody love being a mood reader. The fact that I can jump between genres and enjoy pretty much anything depending on my mood is one of my favourite things about reading! 😂

What was your favourite read in October? 👀📚

🖤🎧 CREEP BY K.A. MERIKAN 🎧🖤

A STALKER, AN OBSESSION, AN ABDUCTION AND A WHOLE LOT OF QUESTIONABLE SHIT… 👀🤭 You know I’m always here for a dark MM romance with a morally grey man!

Creep follows a lonely, socially awkward biker who secretly crawls under people’s beds to feel close to them. His latest obsession? Angel, a pretty blond twink whose abusive boyfriend takes things too far one night. Creep intervenes by killing him… but with Angel now a witness, he decides to take him home instead.

What follows is a twisted relationship between a man who believes himself to be unlovable and the boy who should be terrified of him. But as fear, curiosity and desire become tangled together, things get a whole lot more complicated.

I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was FABULOUS! 🎧👏 This was a pretty solid dark MM romance with some questionable themes (which, let’s be honest, I LOVE haha 😂🖤)

However, it didn’t grip me quite as much as I’d hoped. It probably didn’t help that I haven’t read the first book, which follows a different couple and storyline, so I wonder if I’d have enjoyed this even more if I’d read them in order! 😅

There were also a few moments and character choices that annoyed me a tad, but overall, I still vibed with it enough to enjoy the ride!

AND THE SPICE? 🥵🔥 HOT. But what I also really enjoyed was the surprisingly sweet side to their relationship. That hurt/comfort dynamic gave the story some softer moments, and I was absolutely here for it.

🖤Dark MM romance
🖤Stalker
🖤Morally grey MMC
🖤Abduction
🖤Protective & obsessive MMC
🖤Questionable themes
🖤Hurt/comfort
🖤Broken characters
🖤Twisted romance
🖤Spicy scenes 🔥

Overall, a solid dark MM romance with a deliciously questionable premise, hot spice and some unexpected sweetness. It didn’t completely consume me like I’d hoped, but I still had a good time with it!

Have you got any MM romance recs for me? 👀📚

🎪🖤 HOLLOW WRATH BY JODIE KING 🖤🎪

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. This went even darker and more depraved than the first book, and my god, what a WILD RIDE!

After nearly two years locked away in a cage, our FMC is thrown into the twisted world of Oddity Carnival & Cirque, where madness reigns and the line between reality and nightmare barely exists. Enter Hollow Wrath, one of The Hollows, a deranged, terrifying man whose fixation on her quickly becomes something far more sinister. But she has her own demons to chase, and she’s not about to become just another victim.

The atmosphere? Unhinged. The character dynamics? So good. And the spice? BRUTAL. This book really pushes the boundaries, and I was absolutely along for the ride!

I will admit, though, that parts felt a little similar to the first book, almost like the same formula in a different colour 😅 And there was a moment towards the end (slight spoiler!) that was hot as hell to read, BUT I wasn’t expecting a sharing moment involving our main characters, and it did put me off a little 🫣

Despite that, I still had a bloody good time with this one! It’s dark, depraved, chaotic, and definitely not for the faint-hearted.

🖤Pitch-black romance
🖤Carnival/circus setting
🖤Obsession and fixation
🖤Morally black MMC
🖤Twisted character dynamics
🖤Extreme spice 🌶️
🖤Dark and depraved themes
🖤Unhinged atmosphere

Overall, an absolutely wild read, even if a couple of things weren’t entirely my cup of tea!

PLEASE CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING! There are A LOT of them, and shit gets seriously depraved in this book. This is a pitch-black romance, so please don’t go into it expecting a typical dark romance! 🖤

Have you read Hollow Wrath yet? And how dark do you like your romances? 👀📚

🎧⛓️‍💥SAVING NOAH By Lucinda Berry ⛓️‍💥🎧

HOLY SHIT, GUYS… THIS WAS ACTUALLY GOOD?! 👀😮‍💨

Noah is a top student and small-town golden boy until he’s accused of a horrific crime and sentenced to juvenile rehabilitation. Told mainly through his mum Adrianne’s POV, we see how the aftermath affects the entire family and just how far a parent will go to protect their child.

This was such an uncomfortable but thought-provoking listen! I loved exploring the perpetrator’s family’s perspective, something we don’t always get to see.

ADRIANNE, GIRL… 🙄😂 Some of her thoughts had me questioning her sanity because WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT?! And Noah himself fucked me off quite a few times too, but I guess that’s kind of the point! 😭

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the dad’s POV towards the end, although I understood why it was included. The writing was great, and the audiobook narrator was fantastic! 🎧👏

✨ Psychological thriller
✨ Family drama
✨ Moral dilemmas
✨ Uncomfortable truths
✨ Difficult family dynamics

Overall, a compelling, frustrating and thought-provoking read that really makes you question people’s choices and perspectives.

Have you read Saving Noah? If not gimme some more physiological thriller book recs please! 👀📚

🐙🌊 TREASURE OF THE ABYSS by Tiffany Roberts 🌊🐙

can we take a moment for this SEXY special edition by none other than @beastlytalesbookbox ?! 😍

Macy has always longed for the sea, but after a traumatic experience, she’s spent years keeping her distance. That is, until a sailing trip ends in disaster and she finds herself rescued by Jax, a mysterious kraken who is anything but human 👀

Jax is an explorer who’s fascinated by the unknown, and Macy quickly becomes his newest obsession. But while he’s determined to keep her, she’s desperate to return to the life she knows. Can these two overcome their differences and find something worth risking everything for?

I was pleasantly surprised by this one! The character development and plot development were GREAT, and the world-building was fantastic. I enjoyed learning more about Jax and his kind 🐙

And can we talk about the fact that this was actually a bit of a slow burn?! I wasn’t expecting that, but I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. It also had some genuinely sweet moments that made me love their dynamic even more 🥹

And the spice? WELL. WHEN IT ARRIVED, IT ARRIVED WITH THE USE OF EXTRA APPENDAGES 😮‍💨

✨ Kraken / monster romance
✨ Human FMC x kraken MMC
✨ Captor x captive
✨ Possessive MMC
✨ Forced proximity
✨ Underwater world-building
✨ Slow burn
✨ Character development
✨ Sweet moments
✨ Extra appendages

Overall, this was such a fun, surprisingly sweet monster romance with great world-building, lovely relationship development, and some spicy moments! Definitely one for the monster romance girlies 💙
