¡Hola a todos! Soy Maikel, pasante de HAS Green Academy, en los Países Bajos. Mi proyecto trata sobre el efecto de la reforestación en las poblaciones de anfibios y reptiles. 🐸🦎

Para investigar esto, salgo de noche a buscar anfibios y reptiles a lo largo de los senderos. Cada vez que encuentro alguno, le tomo una foto, intento identificar la especie y mido la temperatura y la humedad. Después, regreso otro día, durante el día, para medir la profundidad de la hojarasca y la cobertura del dosel del bosque.

El objetivo final es comparar los datos recopilados en los tres tipos de bosque de Cloudbridge: el bosque maduro, el bosque de regeneración natural y el bosque plantado. Así esperamos descubrir si existen diferencias entre ellos y cuáles son los efectos de la reforestación en las poblaciones.

Lo que más me gusta de Costa Rica es su gran diversidad de animales. ¡Siempre hay algo especial por descubrir! En Cloudbridge puedo vivir esa misma experiencia, pero con muchos menos animales peligrosos, algo que le gusta, especialmente, a mis familiares. Además, el clima fresco del bosque nuboso es ideal para hacer caminatas largas. 🌿💚

The river systems in the Talamanca Mountains are breathtaking. Seeing them from the sky is even more stunning. This picture was actually taken next door to the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve.

These river systems are home to some amazing species up here in the mountains. From American Dippers to basilisks basking on the rocks!

¡Hola! Mi nombre es Catriona y soy de Escocia. Tengo la suerte de estar haciendo una pasantía de 12 meses en Cloudbridge como parte de mi maestría en Zoología en la Universidad de Glasgow.

Estoy muy emocionada de investigar el papel que tienen los colibríes en la polinización a lo largo del año. Para esto, recorro todos los senderos en busca de flores, para observar qué tipos de especies animales las visitan con mayor frecuencia y si esto cambia según la elevación y el tipo de hábitat.

Con el tiempo, podré comparar la cantidad de visitas de colibríes con las de otros animales que no son aves, como abejas, moscas y mariposas. Así podré observar qué grupo poliniza con mayor frecuencia determinadas flores.

Me apasionan las aves desde hace mucho tiempo, y es muy emocionante encontrar siempre nuevas especies mientras recorro los senderos. Si al final de mi estadía logro identificar aunque sea la mitad de las especies nativas que hay aquí, ¡me sentiré muy orgullosa!

¡Me encanta Costa Rica! La cultura, las personas y la naturaleza son increíbles. Visitar los mercados y participar en actividades culturales me da la oportunidad de mejorar mi español, lo cual es una gran ventaja. Puede que Cloudbridge sea un poquito frío para mi gusto, pero es el lugar perfecto para observar una gran variedad de animales, incluyendo monos, aves y reptiles. ¡No hay ningún otro lugar como este!

🐦🌿 Join our team at Cloudbridge Nature Reserve!

We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Tour Guide & Education Volunteer to join us in the cloud forests of Costa Rica.

You will lead birdwatching, night and general cloud forest tours, sharing your knowledge of local wildlife with visitors from around the world. You will also be part of our education team, helping with student groups and leading small research, field observation and environmental education activities.

We are especially looking for someone with strong knowledge of Neotropical birds, particularly Costa Rican species. Previous wildlife guiding experience is a plus, but a solid naturalist background and genuine passion for birds and nature are essential.

🏡 Free shared accommodation with a fully equipped kitchen
💰 Stipend for every tour you lead
🌳 Live and work in the Costa Rican cloud forest
🌱 Gain experience in nature guiding and environmental education

📅 Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to at least three months.
