What a race … not the marathon I was dreaming about with terrible side cramps at the 25-kilometer mark but at least a good first half working with @benetti.carlo 🤝

Above the race itself what an experience. I met amazing people, managed to catch up with some others and I cannot wait to see all of them in Kona! 🙏

Kona, veni, vidi, vici but I have been very humbled 🙏

I can confirm that everything people are saying about the Big Island is true. It can break you but surrounded by my « Ohana » I accomplished what I had to do 🫂

One year ago today, you were standing in my corner for one of the biggest challenges of my life, one that was even more meaningful to you because of the cause behind it. 🥊❤️

Today, on the same day, you’ve crossed the finish line at the Ironman World Championship, and I couldn’t be prouder of you and everything you’ve accomplished along the way.

Two different journeys, two different challenges, but the same mindset : pushing limits, embracing discomfort, and never giving up.

Exactly one year ago today, I received a call from my dad telling me he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. At the time, I didn’t really realize just how much my life was about to change overnight.

To be completely honest, these past twelve months have been fucking tough, but the fire burning inside me has kept growing day by day. And in a way, that’s what has brought me to where I am today.

Since I arrived in Kona I am living a dream, and I am savouring every single moment of it. The reward is well worth the battle.

Life isn’t an easy game, but when you decide to fight, you eventually reach the place you deserve. Resilience, determination, conviction, and hard work have been my weapons for moving forward these past few months.

Officially a “Cinglé du Ventoux” 🫡

Meet @cloustache40, the athlete who ran 17 km barefoot pushing his bike at 70.3 Worlds.

After crashing at over 50 km/h around the 49 km mark, he ran 9 km to find a mechanic and get back riding. Then, at 85 km, a flat tire forced him off again. He took off his shoes and pushed his bike the remaining 8 km barefoot.

He still went on to finish the half marathon and cross the finish line.

“I’ve decided to banish the word ‘quit’ from my life for good.”

Last Sunday, I had a long conversation with myself, and I hung up as I crossed the finish line at the 70.3 World Championship.

Fate made the phone ring at the 49 km mark of the bike course and told me, just as I was barreling straight into a wall at over 50 km/h: “Your time has not come yet, son. You still have things to do, great things to experience in this life, but today, you’re going to push the limits of your determination and tenacity.”

I crashed violently right into the face of the cliff but I decided to keep going as long as I was physically able. The only problem was, my bike was wrecked. After running 9 km barefoot downhill to find a mechanic, I thought the worst was over, but that wasn’t enough. I was able to get back on my bike, but at the 85 km mark (out of 93), I got a flat tire and couldn’t fix it. I decided to start over. I took off my shoes and ran the entire Promenade des Anglais barefoot, pushing my bike.

After that, running a half-marathon with shoes on and without a bike to push was just a formality.

On Sunday, I plunged into the deepest depths of the “pain cave,” but the further you go, the stronger you become. The result: I’ve decided to banish the word “quit” from my life for good.

I’m far from having made it onto the podium—I was among the last to finish—but damn it, I’m so proud to have made it all the way to the end despite all the obstacles along the way. taken in Nice, Côte d'Azur, France by @cloustache40
