Reintroducing ourselves to our community 💛
We are Kaovny Jonas and Kim Lam, the co-founders of the Cambodian Legacy Project.
What started from a deep love for our culture, our families, and our community has grown into a mission to preserve and celebrate Cambodian heritage while creating opportunities for connection, learning, and healing across generations.
Through education, community, and the arts, we work to build pride, belonging, and cultural awareness while creating spaces where our stories, traditions, and voices can thrive.
At CLP, this work is personal. It is rooted in who we are, where we come from, and what we want to pass on to the next generation.
Whether you have been with us from the beginning or are just getting to know us, thank you for being part of this journey. We are excited for what is ahead and grateful to continue building with you.

With love,
Kaovny and Kim

Thank you @johayesimages for the 📸

Look at these two. Pure joy. Curiosity. Friendship. No labels. No lines drawn between them. Just two little humans exploring the world together with wide-open hearts. And they just met.

I hesitated to post this because of everything happening in our area right now. Our communities are scared, watching every move, trying to stay small to stay safe. But moments like this? They remind me why we cannot shrink.

We owe the next generation more than silence.
We owe them safety, unity, and the truth that racism has no place in their future.

So we keep doing the work.
We keep standing together.
We keep teaching love louder than fear.

And we keep showing up — for them.

Thank you Mecklenburg Metropolitan Interfaith Network for having us at your Friendsgiving.

The community engagement at the UNC Charlotte International Festival was surreal! ❤️ The curiosity people showed as they stopped by our table to learn more about Cambodian culture truly warmed our hearts. 💕

Seeing Cambodians visit our table with so much pride and thank us for representing our culture meant more than words can explain. 🇰🇭❤️

This is why we do what we do—preserving our heritage, sharing our culture, and creating a space where our community feels seen and proud.

What a beautiful way to celebrate Welcome Week! 🌍❤️

At City of Charlotte Welcoming Week Luncheon, we gathered around the table to share stories, culture, and food while reflecting on how Charlotte has made us feel welcomed and connected.

A heartfelt thank you to each community representative who shared their culture and love through their wonderful dishes:

🇵🇭 Philippines — Pancit and Biko desserts
🇨🇩 Congo — Beef samosas
🇰🇭 Cambodia — Beef and chicken Lok Lak with jasmine rice
🥮 Neelia’s Bakery— Cambodian Pandan Honeycomb Cake
🇨🇳 China — Fried chicken wings and stir-fried vegetables

Food has a beautiful way of bringing people together. Every dish carries a story, a tradition, and a little piece of home. Thank you to everyone who shared a seat at the table and helped make Charlotte feel a little more like home for all of us. 🙏❤️

Thank you Charlotte Water for providing the beautiful space.

We knocked. We talked. We connected.

CLP was proud to join NCAAT On the Block in Mint Hill, going door-to-door in AAPI neighborhoods to share voting information and help our community feel more informed and empowered to participate.

Civic engagement starts with conversation—and sometimes that conversation starts right at the front door.

Thank you to North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) and all the volunteers and community partners who showed up!
Our voices matter. Our votes matter. Our communities matter.
