PS 380 just got a brand-new playground, with basketball courts, a jungle gym, a soccer field, and much more. Even better, the site doubles as green infrastructure, capturing 1.2 million gallons of stormwater each year with 38 new shady trees.

Huge thanks to @trustforpublicland, @nyclimate, @nycwater and the incredible leaders at PS 380 for making this dream a reality. by @cmrestler

We need a business improvement district on the Northside of Williamsburg. A BID will help keep our streets clean, organize great community events, promote local businesses, and make our neighborhood a cleaner, greener, safer, and more connected place. VOTE HERE: bit.ly/cleannorthside and attend one of our upcoming community meetings! by @cmrestler

In the midst of a dire affordable housing crisis, AvalonBay used rent overcharges to scam New Yorkers out of millions of dollars. It's absolutely shameful.

This is corporate theft, plain and simple, and we're putting a stop to it.

Our rent regulation laws were passed to protect New Yorkers from exploitative landlords and to give them dignified, affordable places to live. I'm committed to carrying out that mission, and to holding lawbreakers like AvalonBay accountable. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @cmrestler

Tremendous news for NYC families: the Mamdani administration is providing 10,000 more low-income families with childcare vouchers for free, reliable, full-time care. These vouchers will prevent thousands of young families from being priced out of NYC. I deeply appreciate @nycmayor and @govkathyhochul’s unprecedented commitment to expanding affordable early childhood education for all NYC families. by @cmrestler

Humongous news! It’s OFFICIAL - we’re finally getting our brand new park at Box Street! So grateful to the many, many neighbors who fought for Greenpoint’s desperately-needed green space and to @nycmayor for making good on this 20-year-old promise. by @cmrestler

Greenpoint has some of the lowest park space per person in NYC. Since before I was an elected official, I’ve been fighting to change that. Parks are what make a neighborhood livable. They’re where we gather with friends, host birthday parties, escape the heat on particularly scorching days. I’m thrilled that Box St Park will break ground soon and grateful to our @nycmayor for making it happen!

This week, Laborers’ Local 1010 LECET joined the Cornell ILR Worker Institute and Buffalo Co-Lab to present new research examining the feasibility of a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for New York City Parks’ street tree-planting program.

The event brought together leaders from labor, government, and industry for an important conversation about how PLAs can help strengthen safety and job standards, support responsible contractors, expand opportunities for MWBEs, and ensure high-quality work for communities across New York City.

As the research makes clear: **“Not only is the proposal feasible, but it is a good idea for New York!”**

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this important discussion, including First Deputy Comptroller Aya Keefe; representatives from the NYC Parks Department; Council Member and Chair of the Committee on Civil Service and Labor Shirley Aldebol; Council Member and Chair of the Committee on Contracts Lincoln Restler; Santos Rodriguez, Chief of Staff of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York; James W. Versocki, Partner at Archer, Byington, Glennon & Levine LLP; and our key partners at Cornell ILR, Anne Marie Brady and Rusty Weaver.

We also appreciate all of the elected officials who sent representatives and helped provide valuable context and perspective on this issue.

A special thank you to Ty Hankerson, Chair of the NYC Council Committee on Parks and Recreation for sharing a thoughtful video that helped set the tone for this important conversation.

We’re grateful to everyone who participated and look forward to continuing the conversation about how we can build stronger standards, create more opportunities, and deliver quality work for New York City communities. by @cmrestler

This weekend’s nor’easter was just the latest reminder that flooding is a huge issue across our waterfront district. Thanks to all the Greenpointers who came out to our flood preparation event with @nycwater earlier this month. I’m committed to doing everything I can to strengthen climate resiliency across our community. by @cmrestler
