E-bike & e-scooter collisions are up over 30% this year. More than half of e-bike rider deaths from 2017 to 2025 involved illegal bikes going over 25 mph.

Today at City Hall, we’re hearing from DOT, NYPD, delivery workers & advocates, while considering legislation that would:

✅ Create a trade-in program to get illegal e-bikes off our streets
✅ Stop illegal mopeds from being sold
✅ Set safe delivery time standards so no worker has to race the clock by @cmshaunabreu

Yesterday @cmshaunabreu and I hosted @columbia affiliated child care providers at the Council to discuss ways to collaborate and strengthen early childhood education across our city. As we work toward universal child care, we must listen to providers, invest in the workforce, and make sure they have the resources they need to educate our children. by @cmshaunabreu

Safe journeys can also mean quick and easy travels!

@speakermenin and @cmshaunabreu are excited to announce that the Council will be holding a hearing on September 30th to introduce a comprehensive e-bike safety package — that will feature the discussion of implementing technology to automatically slow down e-bikes on sidewalks and many other ways the City Council hopes to make streets work better for pedestrians and bikers. by @cmshaunabreu
