MAN… where do I begin regarding this weekend. From renewing relationships, forming new ones, or fortifying current ones, I am sincerely grateful. @proskillsbasketball Summit in Denver was simply amazing.

As a leader of people, I take that job seriously and consider it an absolute honor. I am sad to no longer formally do that with Ed (Houston), Jim (Colorado Springs), Blair (Detroit), or Jeff (Las Vegas), but they have earned their wings as the saying goes, and I have to kick them out of the nest. I have no doubt, they will continue to excel!

I’m looking forward to the potential next group that I will do all I can for in Nick (Columbus), Russell (Seattle), Alex (Kansas City), Tory (Minneapolis), TJ (Baltimore), Bruce (Baltimore), and Deion (Charleston). I hope to have the privilege to be a part of their growth journey.

So grateful for the brotherhood I share with many men within the organization. When I tell them, “I love you, brother,” I mean it. It’s not a throwaway line or anything of that sort. And it brings me joy when I get a “Love you too, bro” back. And, of course, I love my sisters too!

At Pro Skills Basketball, we are a family-in-arms as we are bonded in our mission to change the culture of youth basketball. It’s a Just Cause and I am thankful to have all of these men and women with me.

I’ve been thinking about focus lately because it’s one of those words we use all the time without really explaining what we mean. Coaches tell players to “focus,” “lock in,” or “get your head in the game,” but if a player has lost focus, does simply telling them to focus actually help them get it back? The more I thought about it, the simpler my definition became: To focus is to be fully present.

Being fully present doesn’t mean we never get distracted, make mistakes, or feel emotions. We’re human. In basketball, I use the phrase “last play, next play.” Recognize what happened, take whatever information you need from it, and then move into whatever the moment requires next. Maybe losing focus isn’t really the biggest problem. Maybe staying unfocused is.

🙏🏼 Grateful for another opportunity to build relationships, new and old, and learn from some of the best out there… I get better, the players I’m privileged to interact with get better.

🏀 Thank you to my guys in the first pic for another great day, Coach Sharman White for hosting at Pace Academy, @usabasketball @usabyouth - Coach Show, Clint, and the living legend, AP!

🍑 Fortunate to connect with other coaches, including the college coaches that I will be reaching out to. And, of course, thanks to the city of Atlanta! taken in Atlanta, GA by @coachingstateofmind

🧠 Mental performance helps athletes develop the skills to compete with confidence, respond to adversity, manage pressure, and stay focused on what they can control. Just like physical skills require training and repetition, mental skills can be developed through intentional practice.

📈 Through practical strategies, athletes will learn how to strengthen areas such as focus, resilience, preparation, self-talk, emotional control, mindfulness, and performing under pressure. The goal isn’t simply to help athletes play better, it’s to develop mental skills they can carry with them in sports, school, relationships, and Life.

📓 Sessions will be led by Dennis Velasco, who is a certified mental performance coach. Please have your athlete come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Extremely happy for my guys, the triple threat of Henry Baker, Kamryn Green, and Jesse Brown. Grateful for their opportunity to get in front of college coaches this spring and summer during Live periods and get a chance to potentially play at the college level.

They’re in great hands with my brother, Coach Terrence Robertson. T-BO!

This isn’t about organizations or circuits (but I will say we’re building at @proskillsmemphis and I’m excited about our 2029s and 2030s). This is about people, fostering relationships, and having genuine joy for others.

So proud of Henry, Kam, and Jesse! MEET THE MOMENT! TAKE THE MOMENT! Every single one of them.

Much love, fellas. by @coachingstateofmind

Went to the Hoop City tryouts today to come support some @sgisbasketball players, see the new pops, @kcouvion, and my brother, @prolific_tbo. Did not expect to see @22coacha22 and @_coachty3! Great surprise and even greater time chopping it up with them!

Some of the best things about these fellas is that they fake-laugh at my dumb jokes, which I’ll live with every time, and I’ve fooled them into thinking I know some things about basketball. 😁

Absolutely love these dudes and being around them. (Pause). Always wishing the best for each of them! 💪🏼

And, the young man in the last pic, @isthatc0di, is going to be one of the top agents/managers in the game in the future! Get your sunglasses ready because he is going to shine! Love the kid! And I hope he remembers that when I ask him for a milli to hold when he’s living a life of luxury! 😂

Coaching is all about the relationships you build and foster. I thank God everyday for the opportunity to do that! by @coachingstateofmind

GOT EM!

To be fair, we did this in the middle of practice last week as we prepared for Region play, so the guys had to be tired!

Congratulations again, fellas! We appreciate you and your effort!

What a privilege to coach and teach these young men. We were hit with multiple adversities that shook up our team, losing four starters before and during the season, for example, but we weren’t shook. We kept going. We remained resilient. We did our best.

Grateful to Coach @deewilkes1 for bringing me on staff, making room for an old guy like me. He doesn’t need to be humble with all of his accomplishments, but he is to a high degree. Mahalo, brother! 🙏🏼

🙏🏼 Thank you to @sgisbasketball players, Jesse Brown ‘27 and Kamryn Green ‘27 for coming down to help with our training camp this evening! The kids had fun, and we think Jesse and Kam did too!

😂 Jesse had an amazing elbow block on Eli, a first grader, and Kam got to show off his PG skills with his handle and dime down to the low post!

💪🏼 In all seriousness, we’re grateful to them coming down and pouring into our youth. Great couple of kids helping the growth of great younger kids!
