After Leadville,I wanted to take a moment to thank all for this day. #benfaustinbigbear. Even broken, he supported me and rode training workouts even when he thought they were boring. Ben was super crewman Phil Dolan, my pther riding buddy, thanks for riding with me. #bearvalleybikes and Hermonator for keeping the bike in shape. Jake, Rachelle, and the Big Bear group. Race #1 and #2 at Rim Nordic Ski area. Rim is such a beautiful venue for a race series. We are fortunate to have a large showing of Bear Valley Bikes racing, from single speed to pro. Ben Faust is having a great race while taking care of his hand and wrist. I’m racing three laps and that third one is a challenge. The climbs are kickers, the descents are rocky, and the turns are sandy and slick. I saw a rattlesnake today and scared the s$&#1 out of me. Summer road trip to Leavenworth Bike Fest. A stop in Chehalis to Alucinor Farms. The fest was a two day event. We raced mtb Saturday. It was up a ski slope and down a bike park swoops. I took 2nd in master women. Sunday, Ben and I choose the path of least resistance and rode the gravel race 58 miles, 7500 feet of climbing. Leavenworth town looks like little Bavaria. I don’t have pics but its a must see. Chehalis and Alucinor Farms was Virginia beauty with west coast vibes. Honestly, if I knew about this place, I would choose it over Big Bear. The water, bridges, grasses, wildlife, and volcano mountains are spectacular. Oh, and the alpacas! Thank you to Jake and the family for having us.

My trip to Monterey, Sea Otter Fuego XL. Thursday was a pre-ride and watch Siena and the other pros race the Lifetime gravel. Saw the ladies sprint for the finish at the final turn before the start/finish line. They came by so fast and the crowd was excited and loud. Friday was a rest day on the 17 mile drove to Pebble Beach. Mini ecosystems of sea, beach, groves, golf course and a park like surrounding all in one small and pristine place. It was like another country. Very healthy for your nervous system. The big day was Saturday. My first lap was slower than I wanted it to be, so the second lap, 35 miles, was a struggle mentally. I really tried to kick it in gear but the wish of under 7 hours vanished and I was left with an interior battle. Overall 4th, and met Jake and Siena at the Leadville token area. Kate Courtney was there! After Jake mustarded the courage to ask her for a picture, we stuck around hoping for a token for Jake. Can you believe it, they called his number! Crush Leadville Jake! Overall, a really good trip. The bike felt perfect thanks to Hermonator. Ray front, Ralph rear were grippy, brakes perfect. We had a fun weekend. Saturday, we raced a coed team at the 8 hours in Vail, Temecula. The course was 7 mile laps. I hammered out 5 laps, Ben Faust embraced the pain, raced a hard second to last lap so he had time to get one more in ,6th lap, before time expired. Between laps, we walked Evie (she also ate bananas pb&js and pretzels), chatted with Juanito, our new tentmate who had a stellar solo day. Our tent was also right next to Tinker Juarezand his team! Yes, Tinker! He and his team were super nice to chat with. They were killing it with 30 minute laps. Ben and I took second and got killed by a team of 14 year olds. Man the kids are fierce in Socal. Happy to see so many kids pushing hard and Racing.
Sunday, we did a fun recovery ride on ebikes and went through the gold fever trails. The tree is Hangmans tree, a symbol of law and justice. In 1861, bandits and outlaws invaded the area and wreaked havoc on prospectors and miners. The funny looking chunks of metal is Jonathan Tibbetts’ grasshopper quartz mill. It was a steam mill, pulverizing gold ore from the John Bull mines.
