A little note from Athena…

We found these canna lilies and elephant ears on super sale at Bella Terra, our favorite landscaping spot, and couldn’t pass them up. It’s honestly a little premature to be landscaping 😂 but the weather is starting to cool down and we needed to get these babies out of the wagon in our front yard and into the ground.

So I sat out here with them for a little while and asked where they wanted to be.

My creative vision for this place is still shapeshifting literally day to day, but I could clearly see these surrounding the fire pit area… so here we are.

David digging holes and me saying “a little more to the left.” 😂

The stories we hear about this place…

Yesterday our Verizon installer told us this was once “the worst place he’d ever seen in the entire Sussex County.” And we’ve heard so many versions of that story—from locals who watched the motel’s demise, constables, firefighters who were here the morning of the fire, and paramedics who remember some of their worst calls happening right here.

In a way, we believe the fire cleansed this property, so we’re not totally upset about it. Fire destroys, but it also clears. It makes room for something new to grow from the ashes.We can see the hidden blessings.

We pray over this place continuously. We feel so connected to the land and the old trees here. With every little thing we do, it feels a little bit lighter and more alive... Like it’s healing right along with us as we bring it back to life.

We cannot WAIT for new friends, families and guests to come fill this place with good energy and new stories.

What an incredible last two weeks.

Three championships, nine games, a lot of miles, and even more memories.

We started with a trip to Lake Placid, New York for the annual Lake Placid Lacrosse Tournament - a place I hadn’t been back to in 28 years. It’s still one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.

But the best part wasn’t the lacrosse.

It was watching the kids experience it with us. They loved it so much that they’re already telling us this needs to become an annual trip.

We got home Monday, and by Thursday I was back on the field in Ocean City playing in both the 30+ and 40+ divisions with Lingo Lacrosse. Four days. Nine games. Two championships.

But here’s what I keep thinking about: Being a dad doesn’t mean you have to stop being YOU.

You can chase your goals. You can compete. You can be exhausted. You can still be the guy who gets after it.

And you can bring your family along for the ride. by @coachmushrush

We chose to call it The Happy Place at Sunset because that’s exactly how we feel every time we’re here.

It’s quiet. The sunsets are incredible. Love Creek is just down the block. You can hear the birds instead of traffic, and life just feels a little slower.

That’s what made us fall in love with this place.

We can’t wait to see families loading up kayaks, kids catching their first fish, friends hanging around the fire pit, and people remembering what it feels like to spend a whole day outside.

We’ve got something really exciting coming in the next few days…
