Hi, I’m Neha - a personal trainer, functional fitness fanatic, and your go-to hype person for all things strength and sustainable wellness. 💪🏽✨

I set out to improve my fitness in 2018 after I became a momma to 1st born. I have competed in HYROX twice, once in mixed doubles and once in the Women’s open, to set a benchmark to improve myself year on year. Having always been curious in the fitness and wellness space and struggling to find information on women’s health pre & postnatal, it fuelled my love for functional and sustainable fitness.

When I’m not coaching or planning the perfect workout, you’ll find me exploring the world (or at least the nearest park 🌳), chasing my tiny humans, or crafting glitter explosions that may or may not take over the house. 🎨💥

I believe fitness should be fun, empowering, and fit seamlessly into your life—whether you’re juggling kids, travel adventures, or just trying to survive the chaos. 😉

Ready to start your journey? Let’s make it happen—one squat, laugh, and glitter explosion at a time. 💖

🌟DM me to get started!🌟

For years, women were told that fasted cardio was the secret to getting lean.

The research doesn’t fully support that idea.

While training fasted can increase fat oxidation during exercise, studies have not shown it leads to greater long-term fat loss compared with training after eating when overall nutrition is matched. Women are naturally more metabolically flexible than men and don’t appear to gain extra fat-burning benefits from fasted training. What they do experience is a greater stress response, higher cortisol, increased hunger later in the day, and a higher risk of low energy availability.

For many active women, especially those doing strength training, HIIT, or navigating perimenopause, training completely unfed may increase perceived stress, reduce training quality, and impair recovery. The goal isn’t to burn more calories during a workout. The goal is to recover better, maintain lean muscle, train harder, and support long-term body composition and health.

Fuel the work required.

I’ve personally noticed that since introducing protein first thing in the morning instead of training completely fasted, my energy, recovery, and body composition have improved significantly.

For Neha, the goal was to become the healthiest and strongest version of herself by her birthday, not only for herself, but to set the best possible example for her kids too.

The result we achieved was just that. Just under 25lbs lost, muscle gained, a HYROX completed, healthier habits built, and a mindset focused on longevity, confidence, and feeling good inside and out.

📣 PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome — and this is a huge step forward in women’s health research.

Why? Because the term “PCOS” never fully reflected what was actually happening in the body.

Despite the name, many women with PCOS never develop ovarian cysts. What research consistently shows instead is that this condition is deeply connected to:
• Insulin resistance
• Hormonal dysregulation
• Chronic low-grade inflammation
• Metabolic dysfunction
• Increased cardiovascular risk
• Fertility and mental health challenges

The new name recognises PMOS as a whole-body endocrine and metabolic condition, not simply a reproductive disorder.

This matters because language influences diagnosis, treatment and how seriously symptoms are taken.

For years, many women were told to “just lose weight” while underlying metabolic dysfunction, disrupted ovulation, elevated androgens, poor sleep, stress physiology and inflammation were overlooked.

Evidence now strongly supports a multi-system approach including:
✔️ Resistance training
✔️ Blood sugar management
✔️ Sleep optimisation
✔️ Nutrition support
✔️ Stress regulation
✔️ Cardiovascular health monitoring

This is more than a name change.
It reflects a major shift toward more accurate science, earlier intervention and better long-term care for women.

Poor sleep doesn’t just make you tired — it changes how your body performs, recovers, regulates hormones, and responds to stress.

Research shows that inadequate sleep is associated with:

- impaired muscle recovery and protein synthesis
- increased cortisol and stress response
- reduced insulin sensitivity and poorer blood sugar regulation
- increased hunger and cravings through changes in ghrelin and leptin
- reduced reaction time, coordination, and cognitive performance
- increased injury risk and slower recovery

Even a few nights of restricted sleep can negatively impact training quality, mood, energy levels, and body composition outcomes.

During deep sleep, the body shifts into a recovery-focused state:

- growth hormone release increases
- tissue repair and recovery occur
- the nervous system downregulates
- memory and motor learning consolidate

Sleep is not passive. It is an active biological recovery process.

For women specifically, sleep can also be influenced by:

- menstrual cycle fluctuations
- pregnancy
- postpartum recovery
- perimenopause and menopause
- elevated life and caregiving stress

Improving sleep hygiene is often one of the highest-impact interventions for:

- recovery
- performance
- fat loss
- hormone health
- long-term wellbeing

Training is the stimulus. Recovery is where adaptation happens.

Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP): the pressure system you didn’t know you rely on.

Your core isn’t just “abs.” It’s a pressure canister made up of your diaphragm (top), pelvic floor (bottom), and abdominal wall (sides).

What is IAP?
It’s the pressure created inside your abdomen when these structures work together. When coordinated well, it:

* Stabilises your spine
* Transfers force efficiently (lifting, running, daily movement)
* Protects your pelvic organs

⸻

Outside of pregnancy
IAP should be dynamic and responsive:

* Inhale → diaphragm descends, pelvic floor lengthens
* Exhale → pelvic floor recoils, deep core engages
* This creates a 360° expansion and recoil system, not a “suck in your stomach” strategy

Good IAP = strength + support without excessive strain.

⸻

During pregnancy
Everything changes mechanically:

* Growing uterus increases baseline pressure
* Abdominal wall lengthens (reduced tension capacity)
* Diaphragm has less room to descend
* Pelvic floor is under constant load

Result: the system becomes harder to regulate, not “weak” — just challenged.

⸻

Why this matters
If pressure isn’t well managed, it gets redirected to the path of least resistance:

* Forward → abdominal doming/coning
* Down → pelvic floor symptoms
* Back → lower back/SI discomfort

⸻

How to support and regulate IAP in pregnancy

* Breath first: 360° ribcage expansion (not chest-only breathing)
* Stack your posture: ribs over pelvis = better pressure distribution
* Exhale with effort: especially during lifting, standing up, or exertion
* Train the deep core: think connection, not bracing or sucking in
* Reduce unnecessary strain: adjust load, tempo, and exercise selection

⸻

Signs of dysfunction

* Doming or coning through the midline
* Pelvic heaviness, leaking, or urgency
* Persistent lower back or SI joint discomfort
* Breath holding or excessive bracing during effort
* Feeling pressure “bearing down” instead of being managed

⸻

Bottom line:
Pregnancy doesn’t “break” your core. It changes the rules of pressure management.
Train the system—not just the muscles.

Day 1 of a 100-hour fast 🙌🏼
Still hydrated, still moving, still showing up — today was quads and glutes + 14K+ steps 💪🏽

I’m doing this to test my resilience, build mental balance, and explore how my body adapts when I deliberately remove comfort. Every fast is a chance to learn about strength beyond calories.

🧠 From a science-based perspective, fasts like this shift your metabolism — lowering insulin, increasing fat oxidation, and pushing your body into a different fuel state that has been linked with cellular maintenance mechanisms and stress resilience in recent research. Metabolic switching during prolonged fasting has been associated with metabolic homeostasis and shifts in energy use that many scientists think support healthy adaptation.

‼️ There’s exciting ongoing research exploring how nutrient restriction influences processes like autophagy and stress pathways, but direct human evidence is still emerging — so it’s promising science rather than definitive proof.

📣 Share below: If you’ve ever pushed your limits with a fast, a tough workout, or a mental challenge — tell me what showed you what you’re really capable of! 👇🏽

Peri-menopause and menopause change the body — but it doesn’t mean you stop training.
It means you train smarter.

Declining estrogen impacts muscle mass, bone density, joint health, recovery, and metabolism. Without the right stimulus, women are at greater risk of sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and chronic pain.

💡 The good news?

Research consistently shows that strength training and joint-focused movement:
✔️ Preserve lean muscle
✔️ Protect bones
✔️ Improve insulin sensitivity
✔️ Reduce joint pain & stiffness
✔️ Support mood, sleep, and confidence

This is why training during this phase isn’t optional — it’s essential.

At Joint Dynamics Evolve, we specialise in training women through peri-menopause and menopause with:
• Evidence-based strength programs
• Joint-centric movement
• Small group & personalised care
• Physio-led support when needed
