TRAIN THE BRAKES 🛑

The body will only express force it believes it can control. 🧠⚡️

Acceleration is capped by deceleration. If the nervous system doesn’t trust that the tissue can absorb what’s coming, it limits output on the front end — a protective governor, not a strength problem.

Kings Were Crowned 👑

Thank you to our players, coaches, and training staffs for a phenomenal season. Historic season in the VSTA as the record was set this year for most games won & most games played in a season.

It just means more.

Season Stats:

Ball Handlers- 95

Nailguns- 74

Let’s talk about the season we just had. Because this one was different.

We brought in new blood this year, and they didn’t come to watch. They came in, picked up the game fast, and made a few veterans nervous — which is exactly how it’s supposed to go. Every one of them made this league deeper, louder, and a lot more competitive.

Then there’s the number that’s going to get quoted around here for a long time: Ball Handlers ninety three, Nail Guns seventy one. That’s not just a series lead — that’s the most wins and the most games ever played in a single Velocity season. We didn’t just show up this summer. We refused to stop playing. Nail Guns, you pushed this thing to a volume nobody’s ever hit before, and that record belongs to both sides.

We had plays this year that genuinely didn’t make sense — the kind of point where someone pulls off something they’ve never done before, a save or a shot nobody saw coming. Outstanding plays that pushed everyone to raise their game. That’s the Velocity effect: one big moment, and suddenly everybody’s competing a level higher than they were a minute ago.

We also broke two windows. Two. I’m not mad, That’s the cost of playing hard. Somewhere out there is a glass company that owes this league a sponsorship.

But under all the chaos, the records, and the property damage, the real story is simpler: we had a blast. We showed up, we competed, we talked trash, we picked each other up, and we built a summer we’re going to be laughing about for a long time.

So before we get to the hardware — I want to thank every single one of you for what you brought to the court this year.

You made this the best season we’ve had.

Long duration ISOs aren’t anything new in the program.
I love them for a multitude of reasons and isometrics in general can have a variety of applications.

On this note, Loved the recent @justflyperformancepodcast with @newathlete in which they discussed the many ways in which Ryan utilized ISOs. However, one of my favorite pieces was using isometrics as a way to expose athletes to failure (something they will inevitably face in their sport). Amongst other things, this forces the athlete to assess what went wrong, and reflect on how they could improve. For more on this go give the pod a listen, ‘twas a banger for sure 💥
