Humpty Dumpty getting put back together again.

In early July, while spending time with family and friends in Virginia Beach, I heard a pop in my shoulder while trying to body surf and ended up completely tearing the rotator cuff on my left arm.

I was fairly certain at the time of the injury it was pretty serious, but opted to hang with family and friends for the duration of the trip and then head back to Florida early to get the MRI and surgery I was inevitably going to need.

That’s exactly what I did.

Dr Lamar and his team took good care of me, and he was able to re attach the pieces of me that came unattached lol.

Here I am, at week 5 post op doing the hardest exercises I’ve done in a while; walking without a sling.

Yes, this is where I’m at.
Walking, doing static holds with my hand by my side, and slowly trying to assist my arm through pain free ranges of motion.

To say the least, I’ve been slowed down quite a bit!

On a personal level, I am fine. I have everything and everyone I need to help get me through this journey and I couldn’t be more grateful to have the people in my life that I can lean on in every way during this time. Also doesn’t hurt that the Rays have been kicking ass!

On another note, I feel I should share this journey more than I have been.

Often times my posts are meant to show others what they are capable of doing, in hopes of helping motivate someone to step out of their own comfort zone.

I guess I’m staying on par by posting this, I just hope it hits on a different level to most.

Here’s what I will say. I currently cannot lift my arm, let alone do any sort of exercises or lift anything at all.

If you’ve been on the fence about starting your fitness journey or restarting, here’s your excuse!

Get back at it or get to it, and show me how it’s done.

Can you do a push up before me? A pull up? An empty bar snatch?

There’s always something you can do and always be grateful for that which you CAN!
It could be here one day and gone the next.

Motivation lasts so long. Find the discipline you need to take care of and love yourself the way you deserve. If you need a push or any advice ever; feel free to mes taken in CrossFit9 by @coachweedo

Happy birthday to the dude I met in July 2000. This man took on a cocky ass, shit-don’t-stink 18 year old shit from Port Charlotte, and helped mold me into the man I am today.

We went over a decade without talking; not because of any animosity, we were just head down in life and getting after it.

But when we did link back up, it was though a day never passed. Ive been very fortunate the last few years to continue to see and spend time with my closest friends. And at that core, would be this man right here. He has been there for me since the day I stepped foot out of my parent’s house, and I will forever be grateful for his friendship, our talks, and of course all of the shenanigans as well.

Love you brother.

Happy Birthday Wayne, Wayno, Weezy, and of course, Frank the Tank. by @coachweedo

Most people will never understand what it takes for someone with cerebral palsy just to do the “basic” things.

Not because they don’t care; but because they’ve never had to fight their own body for every inch of progress.

Cerebral palsy (along with TBI, SCI, blindness, amputees, stroke survivors, etc) isn’t just a diagnosis.
It’s a daily negotiation between effort and limitation.
Between what the brain wants… and what the body will allow.

Simple movements?
They’re not simple.
They’re calculated. Rehearsed. Earned.

Balance isn’t automatic.
Coordination isn’t a given.
Strength doesn’t show up the same way, and it sure as hell doesn’t come easy.

And yet,

Every step forward is built on a level of resilience most people will never have to develop.

That’s what people miss.

They see the struggle,
But they don’t see the discipline behind it.
They don’t see the courage it takes to show up in a world that wasn’t built for you, and still put in the work anyway.

In my world, progress looks different.

It might be a cleaner step.
A more controlled reach.
A moment of independence that didn’t exist last week.

And that matters.

Because this isn’t about limitations;
It’s about capacity.

It’s about building strength where people assume there is none.
It’s about creating confidence in bodies that have been underestimated their entire lives.

If you’ve ever worked with or lived alongside someone with cerebral palsy, you already know:

Nothing is given. Everything is earned.

And that kind of work?

That’s a different level of rewarding🤙 by @coachweedo

STRENGTH AFTER 40

You can absolutely get stronger after 40.

But you have to stop treating recovery like it is optional.

A lot of people want the results of smart training while still approaching their body like they can ignore sleep, skip prep work, rush warm-ups, and stack intensity every session.

That stops working.

The good news is this:
you do not need to train less seriously
you just need to train more intelligently

More intention.
More structure.
More patience.
Better decisions over time.

That is how strength lasts.

Who I work best with

I work best with people who are ready to be coached.

Not perfect people.
Not elite people only.
Not people who already know everything.

People who are willing to listen.
People who are willing to work.
People who are willing to stay with the process long enough to let it work.

That can be:
an athlete chasing performance
an adult rebuilding strength
a parent looking for guidance for their child
someone coming back from injury
someone who has never had coaching that truly fits them

The common thread is not talent.
It is willingness.

If that sounds like you, reach out. by @coachweedo

People see the workout.
They do not always see the coaching.

They do not see the adjustments being made in real time.
They do not see the conversations.
They do not see the problem-solving.
They do not see the emotional side of helping someone build confidence, patience, and trust in themselves.

That is the work.

Coaching is not just writing reps on a board.
Coaching is paying attention.
It is knowing when to push and when to pull back.
It is seeing what someone needs, not just what was originally planned.

That is what makes the difference between training and coaching.

Behind every good result is usually a lot more thought than people realize. 🤙 taken in Sarasota, Florida by @coachweedo

A lot of people do not quit because the work is hard.

They quit because they feel unseen.
They feel misunderstood.
They feel like they are failing inside a system that was never built for them in the first place.

That is one reason coaching matters so much.

The right coach does not just demand more from you.
The right coach understands how to reach you, guide you, adjust for you, and help you keep going when momentum gets shaky.

People can handle hard work.
What they struggle with is feeling alone inside it.

That is why connection matters.
That is why trust matters.
That is why coaching is more than programming.

If you’ve ever felt that, you are not alone. 🤙 by @coachweedo

Here’s a simple conditioning piece you can use this week:

AMRAP 12:
10 wall balls
10 step overs
10 hanging knee raises

What I like about workouts like this is that they do not need to be flashy to be effective.

You get cyclical fatigue.
You get repeatable movement.
You get a manageable structure that lets you push without needing a ton of complexity.

People often look for the perfect workout.
Most of the time, they would be better off doing a good workout with real intent.

Simple done hard beats complicated done halfway.
