This gorgeous woman is @libertywrightartist.

She’s a gifted artist and fellow studio holder at Bath Artists’ Studios. I shrieked with delight as I turned the corner at the studios and saw her in her Coded Cloth attire for Open Studios last Saturday. I was sporting mine, too; sweet serendipities!

Some people will do anything for attention..

Me, busting some stances to best show off the Coded Cloth ‘Swing Top’ that I was awarded myself.

Beautiful raspberry-coloured vintage linen with hand embroidered border and flower motifs, with contrasting sleeves and silver lamé neckline.

I made this top.

It was cut and constructed here in Bath, Somerset.

The fabric was hand-stitched in America. By whom, where and when- we will never know. A tantalising mystery.

It’s so flipping beautiful! But when there’s only one in the world- it makes it hard to part with. The appreciation needs to go further.

Time to re-think the business model, I think..

I’ve made a small collection of Coded Cloth Swing Tops. Each one is completely unique, incorporating one-of-a-kind embroideries sourced for their rarity and beauty..

Coded Cloth HQ is based in Bath, Somerset. My studio is located in @bathartistsstudios and it’s an important part of my life here. We will be celebrating our last ever Open Studios at our current building this coming weekend (25th, 26th, 27th September). 👋🏽👋🏽

Unearthed this image from the archives last week. It shows Jemima @jemima.alex wearing the modern folklore, one-of-a-kind dress that is now for sale. ✨✨

It combines hand-embroidered linen skirts, a satin jacquard bodice, silver satin sleeves and neon piping. Deep pockets, fully French-seamed inside (all in all, hours and hours of work from super talented designer and seamstress @becky__hudson with whom I worked at the time x👋🏽x).

When I was younger, I was seduced by romanticised ideas about knights, castles and pining damsels. My soundtrack was British folk music, my idol, Lizzie Siddal.

I’ve long grown out of such stuff, but some things linger. A love of costume, of ceremony, of frocks that inspire storytelling.

Here’s a glimpse of an early Coded Cloth dress that was made to last. Patchworked from stunning one-of-a-kind embroidered linens, the fabrics swings languidly with the quality of the cloth.

There is only one such dress in this big wide world. It is for sale.

It is a UK size 12. It costs £175. Free P&P within the UK. This is a wildly low price- but I am feeling radical and abundant!

It was my very good fortune to be able to see my earliest Coded Cloth creations on an exceptional woman @chalotte_fruergaard who embodies so much physical beauty and poise.

She stopped traffic in Bath on a sultry evening last week, moving with grace in unique dresses that are inspired by folk ritual, dance and ceremony.

As I gear up to my next creative moves, I’ll be selling these ornate, one-of-a-kind creations later this month, via instagram.

It is most definitely Coded Cloth weather!

I took my stash of hand embroidered linens fur a walk on Sunday, intent on capturing their intricacies and artistries before transforming them into garments.

This one is breathtakingly special. Look at all those tiny cross stitches! I salute the woman-or women- who created this. Who were they, and what stories have they stitched into this linen? It’s pure mystery narrative..

Sometimes my studio looks coherent.

Seemed like a good moment to have some of my current creative preoccupations documented by a professional. @j.h.o.l.l.a.n.d came in and took some stealth shots of a woman at work.

Collage, patchwork and garment experimentation. Coded Cloth, Bath Patchwork Project ‘26, and others creative investigations that I slowly evolve and nurture when life allows..
