“I believe that some of the most interesting conversations in coffee begin at home.

With people who brew quietly, obsessively, curiously, and often with a point of view that deserves a much larger table.

That was the idea behind Home Baristas of India when it first began two years aho.

This year, I wanted that table to hold more than one perspective.

So, 13 home baristas.
13 deeply personal coffee selections.
A lineup that moves across regions, varietals, traditions, and the lesser-known edges of Indian coffee.

From Arabica and Robusta to Liberica, Excelsa, Racemosa, Libex and beyond.

This is my Curator’s Note for Home Baristas of India 2026. A celebration of curiosity, craft, discovery, and above all, Indian coffee.”

Can’t believe it’s already been a month since Home Baristas of India 3.0. If you missed it, here’s a little look back at an evening of brewing and the wonderful people who made it so memorable. by @coffee.devout

Home Baristas of India 3.0 was a celebration of origins, varietals, and all the choices, big and small, that shape a cup of coffee.
Featuring 8 different regions and 10 different varietals, the space was abuzz all afternoon and into the evening with pouring, tasting, tweaking - 75 litres worth of hand-brewed coffee!
Every barista honoured their coffee differently:
Through unexpected pairings like Ankit who paired a bite of feta with Rossette Coffee Lab’s Watermelon Co-Ferment, or Srivatsa’s sinful servings of Mysore pak with Ground Up’s culture naturals or Lakshya’s addition of saline drops to his Genetics Coffee Flores Blancas.
Carefully chosen brewers like Lakshya’s ZeroHero, Akshay’s Orea, Arunima and Atul’s V60 Switch, Deepika and Lakshmi’s Aeropress, Ram’s April, Ankit’s Mugen Switch;
Stories and connections with the coffee like Arunima’s story about the coffee cherry pickers wearing red nail polish to match the colour of the ripe cherries on the women-owned Madhu Agro Plantation, or Deepika’s association of the colour white with her coffee, Genetics Coffee’s Mohabbat, to represent a blank canvas for all other colours. 🤍🤍🤍

Anyone who made their way around the brewing concourse would have noticed that every barista put thought and effort into their approach to brewing.
The evening was such a celebration of Indian coffee and the community that loves it so much.

What a day! ☕❤️

Home Baristas of India at Nerlu was more than just brewing coffee-it was about sharing stories, learning from each other, and celebrating the passion that brings us all together.

I had the chance to serve Rossette Coffee’s Kerehaklu Estate to everyone, and seeing people enjoy every cup, ask questions, and appreciate the coffee made the experience incredibly rewarding.

A huge thank you to @comandantegrinder for sending over the C40 just in time for the event. It was an absolute lifesaver and made brewing throughout the day so much smoother. Truly grateful for the support.

Special thanks to @coffee.devout and @nerlucafe for organizing such a wonderful event and creating a welcoming space where home brewers could connect, learn, and share their love for coffee.

And finally, to all the home brewers-some I’ve known for a while, and many I met for the very first time-thank you. Every conversation was inspiring. Everyone was so humble, approachable, and generous with their knowledge. I came back with new friends, new learnings, and an even deeper appreciation for this incredible coffee community.

This year we’re exploring the regions and varietals of Indian coffee. Through 13 unique coffees, chosen from unique producing regions come a countless stories, and an evening dedicated entirely to brewing, tasting, and discovery!
