We are less than 48 hours until open. I figured I would put my thoughts out to share before our focus sinks entirely into Saturday. An idea Vinnie and I have talked about for the last 5 years has finally come to life. How unreal this seems.

I was first going to mention our personal history, how we met in 2003, the night before we flew to Arizona together but it would simply be too long.

Especially in business, nothing ever goes as planned. Perpetual electrical issues, plumbing challenges, permitting complications, licenses and learning curves kept us shuddered throughout Summer. I’ve run my business since 2018 but never have I experienced such setbacks, general lack of communication and inability to get what I need from vendors as I have with opening a (“physical”) business. There were points we thought we’d never open and we’d just sell off the trailer, wipe our hands and call it done.

So - why are we opening a coffee shop? To show people that coffee is widely misunderstood. This is the desire to educate, show people what coffee can be, how it brings people together, why it’s important to know where their coffee comes from, what coffee can actually be and have fun doing it. While it’s a little more difficult in a trailer vs. a brick-and-mortar, we are building a community.

I remember the feeling of finding a GOOD new coffee shop, being so stoked to grab a coffee, sit and read a book or just people watch and be in the moment. And still, I feel that way. We want to (eventually) provide that for others as well. What better way to learn then to do it from the ground up.

A huge thank you to Larry at @leyden_street_coffee for not only helping us get our espresso machine, but also providing our coffee and helping answer any questions we had along the way. Kelly & Brian with @traditions_bakeshop who welcomed us with open arms, asking “what can WE do to help you” from the first conversation.

His first shift vs. the ride home. 😂☕

When aaronmello_ and I started planning this business, we talked about bringing specialty coffee closer to our community and keeping a small menu we could do extremely well.

We also talked about what it could mean for our families. For our kids.
My first job was bagging groceries at a local food store. I'll never forget it.

So when Eli volunteered to help, I was pumped to have him. I got to watch him light up taking orders and serving every customer at the window. So proud of this kid.

Photo 2 is what a full shift does to you.

What was your first job? 👇

Scenes from our coffee shop - early October edition.

It’s been hitting peak vibes early in the morning at our shop. October has historically signaled so much change in my life personally so this year it feels great to be building this, enjoying sunrises even more and I’m so grateful for it all.

THIS WEEK! Thursday to Saturday 7am to 1pm. Thursday is going to be on the schedule going forward so tell a friend and come see us!

See you soon.

I feel like a use car salesman using green screen.

Anyways - see you Thursday? It’s your new best time to get caffeinated before work so you don’t throat punch your coworker that talks too much.

Thursday - Saturday 7am-1pm at 83 Winthrop St. We will NOT be at the fields Saturday because of the holiday, so come see us at our normal spot.

PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE LATTE

We think pumpkin spice has just become a meme at this point. Our own spin on a Fall delight came through Vinnie and his R&D process. We both love cheesecake and this was the outcome. When I first tried a sip before we debuted it, my only reaction was “WOW.” It IS pumpkin cheesecake, scratch made and not too heavy or sweet.

Our latte gets a bit of homemade vanilla syrup and topped with the pumpkin cheesecake cold foam and a small sprinkle of cinnamon. You guys are loving this one and almost outselling the Dunkaroo, who comes out on top in October?

Online ordering available today, see our story and then link in profile when it’s on. taken in Rehoboth, Massachusetts by @coffeebymello

THIS WEEK!

Big week coming up, we’re excited to be opening THURSDAY for the first time, as well as Friday and then Saturday at the Rehoboth Youth Soccer Club Fields (311 Tremont St.)

One of us is having a birthday this week, Friday to be exact… 🎂

We’re getting ready for back-to-back services with plenty of DUNKAROO lattes that will stay around a bit longer, so don’t miss out.

We’re also ramping up the PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE LATTES because you guys almost outsold the Dunkaroo last Friday before the “storm” with those! 🎃

Vinnie is working on a new Fall flavor as well and already planning ahead to those winter specials that will surely include some cold weather staples.

Enjoy the first half of your week and come see us the second half! Thursday and Friday 7am at 83 Winthrop and Saturday 8am at RYSC. taken in Rehoboth, Massachusetts by @coffeebymello

From the beginning, we were building our foams in squeeze bottles with a whisk ball inside. We couldn't sustain shaking them long enough to hit the consistency we want every single time, especially once we got busy.

That's not the standard we hold ourselves to. So! We completely changed how we serve our cold foam! This will result in a richer, silkier, more consistent foam in every cup, whether you're first in line or twentieth.

Come see (and taste) the difference tomorrow! Our Pumpkin Cheesecake Latte and Dunkaroo Latte are both topped with fresh cold foam and ready for you. We will be outside Traditions from 7am-1pm! #coffeecoffeecoffee #cafeonwheels by @coffeebymello

Mello Coffee is a brand new craft coffee trailer located at 83 Winthrop street (rt 44) in Rehoboth MA!

They are brand new, just getting their bearings, and I was lucky enough to grab a pumpkin cheesecake latte from them 😍 Follow them on social media to find out when and where they will be open!

Conveniently, their parking spot on rt 44 is at a bakery 😊 so obviously I had to check them out! what a perfect pairing: a latte and a sweet treat 😋 I got 4 cupcakes, and they were fantastic. Traditions Bakeshop is mostly a cake bakery, but they also have cookies and a few breakfast pastries as well. It’s worth it!

Both businesses were so friendly and excited to tell me about their products. Truly what a perfect one stop shop!

Scenes from our first event. We are setting up shop at the Rehoboth Youth Soccer Club at 311 Tremont St for the next 7 Saturdays, this past weekend being our first.

This was throwing ourselves in to prepping the trailer, bringing it to a different location, setting up and dialing in before service. It was chaos, if I’m being honest. Our machine was being finicky when it came in to delivering the espresso we wanted, inside was a mess because we had a lot going on between baked goods and our usual load and people lined up not only sooner but even more than I imagined.

But we learned. We didn’t give up. We adapted. We continued to deliver the level of quality we know is foundational for us. And we got great feedback.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, giving us a shot for the first time, and those who came back for a return visit. We continue to get better each day and can’t wait to do this again next weekend. Tell a friend. Leave us a review. Share with your uncle. It all helps us do what we love doing and helping more people find us to drink good coffee. See you Friday at our usual 83 Winthrop, Saturday at the fields and Sunday at an event in Taunton!

Talk soon.
-Aaron
