Fit for a picnic 🌼

This lil short brim, Cath Kidson-esque bucky is made for snacking on cucumber sandwiches in a field of daisies on a warm spring day.

The short brim offers just enough sun protection, while the chin straps stops it from blowing away in a sudden gust of wind 💨

I struck gold with this towel 🍯

Sometime the pattens on towels fit my sewing pattern so perfectly that it’s like they were destined to become hats. This was one of them.

There was only one embroidered panel on the towel, so when I skeptically tested out my sewing pattern, I was blown away that it fit like a glove, right down to perfect pattern matching on the side seams. Kismet.

After decades of sitting unused in a linen closet, this vintage towel is getting a full makeover 💅

I loved transforming this stunning, velvety towel into a bucky hat for the recent collection. She was the first to sell, and to make it even sweeter, she’s staying close to home at @ladyoraflowerfarm. Imagine how gorgeous she’s going to look among all of Nikita’s beautiful dahlias!

I had my whole collection organised, and then THIS towel arrived in the mail 🥵

I already knew exactly which towels I was going to use for the recent hat collection, but then @clairewhimp found me this towel, and I had to rejig the whole plan because I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

It’s beautiful lilac gradient with pops of orange, the bold pattern, the sculpted texture. I’d already made it in my mind so many times, that making it in real life felt like opening a can of soda and all the bubbles finally get to do what they were made for 🫧

Lucky last 🍀

This checkered bucky is the only hat still available from the latest collection.

It’s short brim and timeless checkerboard pattern make it a perfect everyday wear, adding a bit of jazz to almost every outfit 🎷

It’s been a week since releasing the latest collection and I’m still riding the high 😆

Still blown away. Still in shock. Still processing.

I’ve had so many kind and encouraging comments and messages from this lil community. I know it‘s a bit rough out there at the moment, but there are still a ton of incredible people, with beautiful hearts full of love and kindness.

I’m working on custom hats over the next few weeks. DM me if you’re keen on getting on the list or would like to know more.

Then it’s onto a very secret, exciting project that may involve a collab with one of the most ammmmmmazing makers 🤫 by @colcol.nz

This was supposed to be a “New Collection Now Live” post.

But then almost all the collection sold out before I could even post it.

And now I’m in tears, shock, and disbelief.

THANK YOU, thank you, thank youuuu to everyone who has got themselves a bucky from this new collection.

For some, it’s their first hat, for some it’s their sixth! But for all of them, I am so incredibly grateful. Your support has been overwhelming and I’m still trying to process it all.

Featuring fringes, mix-and-match patchy hats, short, standard, and long brims, in all the sizes. There is everything from soft, luxurious velour designs to bright, textured, vibrant creations, and elegant, understated pieces.

Each one-of-kind hat is lovingly handmade in Taranaki using repurposed fabrics.

I’VE SET A DATE!

Over a year in the making, this collection of vintage towelling bucky hats are almost ready for ya.

The finish line is so close. All outer hats and underbrims have been made, and all that remains is for them to be unified for all eternity.

Over a year in the making, a new collection of vintage towel bucky hats coming soon!

I’ve been slowly building up this collection in between making customs, and general life-ing. This is true slow fashion. Thoughtful, timeless, sustainable, and carefully crafted.

I should have a date set by the end of this week, but in the meantime, which is your favourite towel in this lineup?

Sometimes you’ve gotta reward yourself with another hat.

@toblerone_17 ordered 2 hats over a year ago. One for her and one for her husband. I made hers but her husband’s was a beer towel hat that took us over a year to find juuuust the right towels.

In the meantime, Cheryl decided that she needed to reward her patience with another hat for herself 😆

So we went all out: patchy, chin strap, fringe, the works!
