The Malagasy cat snake (Madagascarophis colubrinus) a wee reminder that some of the most overlooked animals in this hobby are every bit as spectacular as the ones everyone’s chasing.

The last hatchling of 2026!
This little one can stay as long as it wants. Really nice to end the hatching season on a note positivity. This years been emotional. Some absolutely devastating losses but incredible highs and some more feathers to put in my cap! by @cold.blooded.outcasts

Solid little things 💚

The previous baby from these parents was quite shy, which always made me wonder whether that was partly down to his slight spinal kink, or simply genetics, as these parents are the shyer pair.

I think he may have been a little wary because of his slightly reduced mobility, so seeing these little ones already being calm, curious and confident is absolutely lovely.

It’s still early days, but they’re already showing so much personality.

A few months ago I looked into the vivarium and said, “She’s pregnant.”

First time breeding Amazons, and absolutely fucking thrilled to say I was bang on the money! 😂

This group cohabitates, only being split to feed, so I had absolutely no idea when they locked. The last couple of months have been HARD because I have ZERO patience when it comes to waiting for babies.

So, after pacing the hall and reptile room last night because my back was sore and I couldn’t settle, these lovely little aggro laces decided to make their entrance just after 01:00 this morning. 😂
I think she’s finished with 8 BIG, healthy babies and a lovely mess of gunk for me to clean up when I get home.

I’m not necessarily book smart when it comes to keeping reptiles. Rhyming off scientific names to other keepers and having a tadger swinging contest over who knows the most doesn’t really do it for me.

I much prefer my ability to read my animals, understand them, recognise when something isn’t right and, most importantly, have them absolutely thrive in my care.

You don’t have to know everything to be a good keeper.

You have to know your animals.

And today, I’m one very fucking happy keeper. 🐍🫡

Special shout out to @scottishgiantreptilesanctuary for always having my corner and @reptilecribsuk for listening to me be impatient for the last four months by @cold.blooded.outcasts
