I left a job in February of 2024 without another plan or role lined up.

After weeks of searching and interviews I had a contract signed. I looked at my wife and asked how long I could take to take a trip to reset my head before my start date. She told me 5 days.

I looked over at her on our couch at home, smiled and said, "well, looks like I'm going to Japan next week".

Booked the worst seat on the back of the plane next to the bathroom on Japan Airlines, slept in a pod hotel, and wore the same three outfits out of my backpack.

Walked nearly 100 miles and saw everything I could dream of, ate everything in sight, played games, bought Pokemon cards, steeped in history, stayed silent for 48 hours, felt in Planet Labs and reset mentally.

I'll go back first chance I get. Thankyou Tokyo! by @collectedorinvested

I like to collect and invest in art as well. This piece is a Dali print "Thus the Earth Was Created" which I had a handmade gilded wooden frame with a white matting made for back in 2024. by @collectedorinvested

Holding onto sports cards and memorabilia makes it feel as if you can hold onto the moment you watched a championship ending play or a record shattered. Something amazing about them as a sports fan. Down here in Texas, Astros are king, none bigger than Nolan Ryan. by @collectedorinvested

I've been talking with folks recently about "what's next".

Historically @vgagrading has been the standard for Japanese retro console game grading.

I think we will see a move from @psavideogames to open the market on these pieces of history and the market will take off. This example of Super Mario 64 for the N64 was acquired for $19 CIB in 2025 and I believe would grade an 8.0-8.5. This type of thing will go for much more in the near future. by @collectedorinvested

Yooka Laylee is the intellectual and artistic inheritor of Banjo Kazooie and rightfully so. It's beautiful, fun, challenging in all the appropriate ways, wacky frame narratives, excellent boss battles, a nostalgic winter level and more. And oh, the inside jokes, easter eggs and Rare references abound. Not to mention a car trip playable soundtrack by @grantkirkhopecomposer by @collectedorinvested
