We’re proud to share that @collectivenz is now @bcorporation Certified, the first caterer in Aotearoa to achieve it.

That means our business meets independently verified standards for how we treat our people, our community, and the environment - from paying a living wage to reducing waste across our operations.

For us, hospitality has always been about care. This simply formalises that commitment.

We're so proud of our team, and this certification marks the beginning of our next chapter. by @collectivenz

A holiday through Aotearoa, without leaving the room.

For the 20th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology (ISME20), we set out to create dining that felt like a journey through New Zealand and all the things that make it unique. Chef Logan wrote a brief for each station, our Head of Creative @the.creative.lead, sketched it, and our amazing team brought it to life.

Swipe on through to see the vision and the execution.

A private lunch for six at @orakeibayvenue.

Last week we hosted an intimate private lunch at Ōrākei Bay venue. Seasonal kai from Aotearoa growers, served to share.

Small in size, with the same care we bring to every event.

The food is the heart of your wedding day, so come and taste it first.

Palate is an evening of food and wine at Ōrākei Bay: a glass on arrival, canapés, a family-style dinner to share and dessert to finish. See the venue, meet the team, and taste the menu your guests will be eating. Catering by the amazing @collectivenz

Sunday 11 October, from 5pm. $45 per person, bring your family, friends and bridal party. Book your wedding with us afterwards and the couple's tickets come off your venue hire.

Seats are limited, book through the link in the bio! 🤍 by @collectivenz

For @hbomaxanz launch event, celebrating House of the Dragon, our kitchen and creative teams built a dish that lived somewhere between food and set design.

Blown-out eggshells, filled with truffle custard. A shard of prosciutto standing in for a dragon's wing. Served on "dirty salt" stained by beetroot juice, into something that looks like it belongs in a dragon's nest.

Plated in layers:
- Base: Dirty salt
- On top: Filled eggshells
- Centre: Dry ice
- Hero element: Dragon egg positioned on a small pedestal

It's one of our favourite kinds of project - delicious food, storytelling and design pulled together to build something guests remember well after the plate's cleared.

What happens when you give sponsors room to work, not just a table to stand behind? At this year's Good Food Cuisine Awards, we found out.

The wonderful Kelli Brett wanted to give sponsors, and us at Collective Hospitality, a bigger opportunity to put their craft directly in front of guests. So to make things a bit different, food sponsors ran live, interactive stations right there at the Aotea Centre, @aucklandconventions.

- @orakingsalmon & @hakukingfish sliced fresh nigiri to order.
- @yellowbkroad ran a live oyster-shucking station.
- @sturgeonvalleynz served caviar bumps straight from an ice sculpture.
- @greenstonecreek carved a full meat showcase on a trolley, raw through to seared.
- @amexnz served dessert from a vintage leather suitcase, in blue and gold.

Our roaming canapés got the same attention to detail. Fresh salmon on glass platters. Ghost trays dressed in seaweed. And our very own paua pies, packed into pie bags and served in custom wooden boxes.

This is what hospitality beyond the food looks like to us: guests getting to see where their food comes from and the story behind it, not just the plate in front of them.

Last week our team headed out to @hakukingfish farm to visit one of our suppliers, an amazing trip put together by Chef Logan.

A huge thank you to Jeremy Singleton for showing us around and walking us through how it all works before the fish reach our kitchen.

Kai with care means knowing where our produce comes from, not just saying it. Days like this are part of that, seeing the people and the process behind what we serve 🐟 by @collectivenz

REAL WEDDING: Desirée + Oliver

"On our first date we said we both love France. Sure enough, a year and a half later, the first country we visited together was France." - Desirée

Their first date lasted six and a half hours at the @aucklandmuseum, in front of Peter the T-Rex, a conversation neither of them wanted to end. It was only later they worked out the city had been trying to introduce them for years: Numberworks as kids, university, the same friends' parties. A dating app finally did what a decade of near-misses couldn't.

They married in the garden at @orakeibayvenue, surrounded by their beautiful guests who'd travelled in from ten countries. Oliver was already in tears before Desirée reached the top of the aisle.

REAL WEDDING: Serey & Darshen 🤍

"We lived down the road from each other for years and never crossed paths. It took a mutual friend to finally introduce us, after that, there was no keeping us apart."

Darshen & Serey's beautiful celebrations took place across two venues: a cultural ceremony at @noctonwoolshed, then their Western-style ceremony and reception at @orakeibayvenue, overlooking the Ōrākei basin which happens to be where one of their favourite very first dates took place.

"It was the only venue we both completely agreed on," Serey says. "Warm and relaxed, but still beautiful."

The launch of HBO Max Aotearoa, New Zealand.

There's an assumption in hospitality that creativity is for small jobs, and care is for small teams. That once you scale, the work turns transactional. We don't think that has to be true.

For the @hbomaxanz Aotearoa New Zealand launch, our team built a menu from the ground up designed to carry the story of the brand itself, canapés that translated iconic worlds into flavour, and a Harry Potter Forbidden Forest dessert table built with @thebotanistnz.

Ambitious, detailed, and genuinely collaborative work.
That kind of creative execution isn't at odds with how we operate day to day, the same intentionality that goes into a zero-waste menu goes into a launch like this one. Scale doesn't have to lower the bar. It should raise it.
