As part of their Civics and Citizenship learning, our Year 6 students visited Tasmanian Parliament House in Hobart this morning.

Taking on the roles of Members of Parliament and parliamentary officers, students experienced the parliamentary process and explored how laws and legislation are debated and passed.

Year 3 Service Learning: Connecting Generations💛

Our Year 3 students have been embracing the spirit of Service Learning this term, discovering how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Each Friday, our students have been busy sewing beautiful felt hearts and stars with Mrs Links and Mrs Johnson. These special handmade gifts have been created with care, and last week we were excited to share them with residents at Respect Aged Care – St Ann’s, as a way of expressing our gratitude and respect for the older members of our community.

Our visit to St Ann’s was a particularly special afternoon. Mia delighted everyone by playing the piano, before we recited a poem for the residents who had come to meet us. There were plenty of smiles and moments of connection as students chatted with residents and learned more about their lives.

The visit also connected beautifully with our HASS History learning, as students interviewed residents about what school was like when they were young. They discovered how classrooms, lessons, technology, uniforms and daily school life have changed over time, while also recognising some of the things that have remained the same.

Students then worked together with the residents to complete portraits of one another, creating a wonderful opportunity for conversation, creativity and connection. Our visit finished with afternoon tea together, where students and residents continued to share stories and enjoy each other’s company.

The experience has reminded our Year 3 students that service is about more than giving – it is about building relationships, showing gratitude and learning from others. Through their sewing, conversations and shared experiences, our students have developed a deeper understanding of respect, compassion and active citizenship within their community.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter and genuine connection – a wonderful example of the joy that can be enjoyed when different generations come together. 🙏 by @collegiate_school

SHE Cup AFL Fundraiser

What a fantastic day at Ham Common for the SHE Cup AFL Fundraiser, raising funds and awareness for the SHE Foundation!

It was wonderful to have three Collegiate teams take part in the event, with our students showing great enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day.

A big thank you to @fahanschool School all of our students, staff, umpires, coaches, AFL Tasmania, @shegynaetas SHE Foundation, and families who supported the day. It was fantastic to see so much Collegiate spirit on display!

We also enjoyed plenty of sausages, drinks and icy poles throughout the event, with funds raised going towards the SHE Foundation.

Congratulations to all of our students who participated, and thank you for representing Collegiate so proudly! by @collegiate_school

🎶 A special visit from the Australian Girls Choir

This week, we were delighted to welcome the Australian Girls Choir to Collegiate as part of their Tasmanian Tour.

Our Collegiate Singers and Founder’s Choir had the wonderful opportunity to take part in a workshop with the choir, before coming together for a special mini-showcase for Collegiate students and staff.

We feel incredibly fortunate to host opportunities like this, giving our students the chance to learn from talented performers, experience new musical perspectives and be inspired in their own music-making.

A huge thank you to the Australian Girls Choir for sharing their talent, energy and passion with us. We hope this memorable experience continues to inspire our students as they grow and develop on their musical journeys. 💙🎶 by @collegiate_school
