Stop waiting to feel ready. Ready is a decision. ✨

A few final checks, some finishing touches and one last look before the girls head off to the Mount Eliza Art & Design Show!

There’s something quite vulnerable about putting your art out into the world. Something you’ve poured so much of yourself into, made with your own two hands, and now you’re inviting everyone else to see it.

And I think it’s easy to keep waiting. Until you feel confident enough. Until you feel ready. But sometimes you’ve just got to decide that your work deserves to be seen.

So here we are! The girls are packed up and off on their next adventure, and I couldn’t be happier to see them out in the world.

See you next weekend at the Mount Eliza Art & Design Show, 23–25 October! 💛

“My 5 year old could do that.”

Yeah. They probably could.

And that’s the whole bloody point.

Remember when we could just make things? Without questioning ourselves. Without worrying what anyone thought. Without needing it to be good, or make sense, or even look like anything.

Just pure, messy, glorious freedom.

Then life happens.

We grow up. We learn the rules. We learn what’s acceptable. What’s beautiful. What’s right and wrong. We learn to stay inside the lines. To contain ourselves. To behave.

And somewhere along the way, we lose something.

That wild imagination. That instinct to play. That ability to look at the world with absolute wonder and joy.

And the heartbreaking thing is, we can’t go back. We can’t buy those years back. Not for all the money in the world.

So we make art.

We throw paint around. We get our hands dirty. We make a mess. We experiment. We let go of control and try to find our way back to that feeling.

Even for a moment.

Because that’s what we’re trying to capture. Not a perfect picture. But a feeling we used to have before the world taught us to contain it.

So yeah, your 5 year old could probably paint this.

But could you?

Could you let go of everything you’ve been taught? Stop judging yourself? Stop trying to get it right? Just create for the sheer bloody joy of it?

Because that freedom your 5 year old has?

It’s priceless.

And I’d give anything to feel even a little more of it again.

PASSING THROUGH

Layers of movement, colour and texture. The tension between holding on and letting go.

Passing Through is part of my exploration of movement, change and the moments in between. Those times when we’re not quite where we were, but not yet where we’re going.

I’m excited to be exhibiting this piece at the Mount Eliza Art & Design Show, 23–25 October, alongside four other original works.

If you’re in Melbourne, come along and experience the textures and details in person. I’d love to see you there!

Passing Through | $800
Mixed media on canvas | 920 × 610mm

Available to purchase at the show or view now on my website.

AFTERIMAGE II | 1020 × 1020mm

Movement, memory and the marks we leave behind.

Afterimage II explores the tension between control and letting go. Layers of earthy tones, soft whites and unexpected flashes of turquoise move across the canvas, overlapping, interrupting and finding their own way through.

There’s a sense of something constantly shifting. Nothing stays neatly in place, and that’s exactly the point.

A large scale original abstract painting, full of movement, texture and energy. Made to bring something a little unexpected into a space.

My new collection AFTERIMAGE is starting to take shape.

This one has already moved through about three different emotional states.

Each layer has been a push and pull between control and letting go. Building it up, pulling it back, adding more, then more again. Keeping going until it’s ready to stop.

And you know when you know.

Movement, flow, texture and a whole lot of drippy drips.

AFTERIMAGE captures the trace of an emotional release that stays with you long after the moment has passed.

The kind of work that changes the feeling of a room. A whole vibe on the wall. You can almost hear it sing.

Coming soon to an upcoming show.

SEEN THROUGH

There’s a presence to her.

Layered, textural and composed with movement, SEEN THROUGH draws you in slowly. The closer you look, the more she reveals.

She holds her own in a room.
She brings depth, warmth and something unmistakably alive to a wall.

This is the kind of piece you build a space around.

SEEN THROUGH is available now.

Bring her home.

What the Light Holds.

Some things stay with us. In memories, in places, in the way we feel about the people and moments that have shaped us.

This piece explores that idea of something remaining, even when we can no longer see it.

Layer upon layer of texture, movement and warmth. An original abstract artwork that reveals more the closer you look.

What the Light Holds
Mixed media on canvas | 910 × 610 mm
Ready to hang.

New paintings drying in the background, sunshine coming through.

I’m down with a flu. Willow keeping me company while I do absolutely nothing productive for once.
