The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) announces the audition of Trombone 4 effective for the 2027/2028 season. To be considered for an invitation to submit recordings, highly qualified candidates should submit a resume/work history no later than November 10, 2026 through the Columbus Jazz website form seen below. No phone calls, please.

Semi-finalist candidates will be chosen and invited to submit recordings November 17, 2026. Finalist candidates will be invited to perform with the CJO on a Spring 2026-27 season concert (all rehearsals and performances, paid at union scale). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. by @columbus.jazz

We are so lucky to have the legendary @columbus.jazz Orchestra right here in our city!

The CJO just kicked off its incredible 2026-2027 season with an opening night at the Southern Theatre. For over 50 years, this world-class organization of 16 highly regarded local musicians, educators, and guest artists has been bringing iconic, big band performances to Central Ohio.

Under the direction of band leader and trumpet virtuoso Byron Stripling, last night’s opening show, Ella & Louis featuring Grammy Award-winner Carmen Bradford, was perfection.

The Jazz for Young People concert by @jazzdotorg with @wyntonmarsalis presented in partnership with the @wexarts brought jazz to the students of central Ohio and beyond. With 2,041 students from 36 schools, with 18 elementary and middle school programs and 21 high school programs all showing up to experience this band perform, this program marks a great opportunity for students to hear live music and the impact of jazz firsthand.
