🌱3 ways you can help protect your child 🪶

💛1 Agua florida Prayer (homemade or bought Florida water) or even holy water if you prefer and pray over your child with it as explained in the video.

💛2 Protection Satchet — create a protection Satchet with some herbs/Plantcestors that are known to protect, calm, and ground us. You can place the Satchet in their lunchbox, room, or backpacks. Explain to your child this is NOT for eating or playing, but for protection.

💛3 Protection Amulet — anything can be used as an amulet for protection as love as you pray over it with some intention. My son loves to collect rocks and other things from nature so I’m using a piece of bark he brought to pray over and he can keep this with him.

We often talk about healing our inner children, but what about our inner teenagers? The ones who had to hide to fit in, the ones made invisible, the ones who couldn’t wild out because they had to keep it “all together”, the ones whose rage was seen as a problem? #Affirmations #InnerTeen #InnerTeenHealing #Teenager #InnerChild

For a long time, I was focusing on what I didn’t have or what was stripped away from me (and my ancestors). Then I heard these words and realized that while I didn’t grow up in a fancy house or attend a school with state-of-the-art faculties, I grew up with a village that looked out for each other. I had teachers that looked like me and believed in me. I had community members that showed up for my family when our house burned down.

What becomes possible when we teach young people to value their cultural, communal, and ancestral capital just as much (if not more) than we do money?

One way I celebrate my Latine Heritage is by honoring my ancestors’ traditions and practices. My son has been having a hard time sleeping and this is one way the peoples before me have dealt with that:

🪶💤 Sleep Protection Practice 💤🪶

🌀 Grab a glass vase or bowl and fill it with water
🌀 Put a cube of Camphor/Alcamfor in
🌀 Optional: add a couple of drops of Água Florida / Flórida water

🌊 Water holds memory and consciousness (look up the theory of water memory!) — it’s why many of our ancestors held ritual at oceans, rivers, and lakes.

🙏 Call in your highest, healed and elevated ancestors, spirit, and God(dess. Pray over the water asking for it to absorb and retain any heavy energies lingering in the room. Ask for it to cleanse and purify the space and allow for sweet dreams to move through 😴 Thank the water for doing this work!

We are NOT a monolith and we also need to respect and honor the beautiful ways we are different from each other.

Fck borders. Y punto.

Don’t celebrate if you’re also not willing to speak up and fight for ALL of us.

Spanglish is a legitimate language and there are SO many ways to preserve the ways and histories of our ancestors that don’t involve having to speak a language that was forced upon our peoples.
