My heart is so heavy. 💔 There was only one Dolores Huerta. A force of nature. A fearless fighter. A woman who dedicated her life to justice, dignity, equality, and workers’ rights. She fought for our community, for those whose voices weren’t heard, and for what was right. And she never backed down. From the moment I learned who she was, I looked up to her. She inspired me to speak up, to stand against injustice, to march, to protest, and to never be afraid to fight for what I believe in. I will forever cherish the moment I had the honor of meeting her. She looked into your eyes, listened to you, and made you feel like you mattered. Her life was a reminder that change happens when we stand together, even when the fight is hard. She leaves us with enormous shoes to fill. But what a legacy. What a life. What an extraordinary woman. May we continue telling her story, honoring her sacrifices, and carrying on the fight she dedicated her life to. Rest in power, Dolores. ✊🏽❤️ ¡Sí se puede! ✊🏽 by @comadresunfiltered
This morning, as I shared the heartbreaking news of our beloved Dolores Huerta’s passing on my radio show, Omar y Argelia, my voice trembled, my body shook, and my heart ached. You see, less than a week ago, I had one of the greatest and most emotional honors of my life: introducing and paying tribute to Dolores at the Heart of the Family Awards, hosted by the East Los Angeles @elaymca Never could I have imagined that those heartfelt words of gratitude would so soon become a farewell. That day, I spoke to her & her family from the bottom of my heart: “Querida Maestra, Lider y Amiga, Dolores…thank you for teaching us that our voices hold tremendous POWER, that our dreams have purpose, and that true leadership isn’t just about opening doors for ourselves, but keeping them open for generations to come.” Dolores didn’t just make history… she paved the way for women like us to write our own. Today, I mourn her passing, but I also thank God for blessing me with so many special moments with her. One of the most meaningful was having the privilege of introducing her to my daughter Anabella, who, along with her sister Camila, inspired me to write Grandes Dreamers, my bilingual children’s book in which Dolores Huerta holds a very special place as the first of 12 extraordinary Latino trailblazers who have left their mark on history. The encounters, conversations, and moments we shared are memories I will now treasure in my heart more than ever, forever. To her entire family, and @doloreshuertafd I send my deepest condolences, prayers, and love. 🙏 Dear @doloreshuerta, your voice will never be silenced, your fight will never end, and your legacy will live on for generations to come. Thank you for giving us so much. Thank you, always. 🕊️ ¡SÍ SE PUEDE! ✊🏼 REST IN POWER, Dolores Huerta. 🤍 #DoloresHuerta #Legend #Champion #Icon #Leader by @comadresunfiltered
